Overall Rank = 1/50 (W)

Age Group Rank = 1/6
Pre-race routine:

Scott was working this race for Set Up Events so we stayed with the crew at the Sheraton in New Bern. Got up early (5:15am) to go to the race site with the crew. I ate an english muffin with peanut butter and then helped sign in the racers. Since I was an 'add on' and this was a pool swim I was almost the last racer to go off.
Event warmup:

Jogged for about 15 minutes before heading to the pool to start my swim.
Swim
  • 07m 35s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

My swim was fine. It's still something I am working on...I was 17th out of the water for all women. My swimming is a work in progress and while I am not the strongest swimmer I definately I am improving.
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Good transition. I still do not have my bike shoes attached to my bike so I am using my running shoes and toe cages. I was at the very back of the transition area when running from the pool so I felt liket this was a decent transition time.
Bike
  • 30m 4s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.96 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike course ended up being two miles shorter than they had planned due to road issues. I had a great bike and was happy with my miles per hour. Because I started at the back of the race most people were done or on the run before I even got on the bike. I passed a few people but not many. I am really happy with my progress on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 23s
Comments:

Gotta love already having your running shoes on...racked my bike, grabbed my hat and clif shots and I was off and running.
Run
  • 22m 21s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 06m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I came off the bike and had a bit of trouble finding my legs. My first mile was a lot slower than I had wanted...around 8 mins. I was able to pick it up for the last two. I was hoping to run under 22 minutes but not such luck...but not complaints eithers.
Post race
Warm down:

Kissed Scott at the finish then ran for about 10 minutes to cool down.

Event comments:

My oveall places are based only on the female results. There were 50 females and 76 men in this race. It was the first year it was held and overall the YMCA did a great job! I had a good time at this race...it was definately a spur of the moment thing! I helped the crew breakdown the race site and since it was small we were done just after 1pm. This is a great 'newbie' triathlon and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good 'beginner' triathlon to race! I'm addicted to triathlons...it's official!
