Total Time = 2h 10m 12s
Overall Rank = 2601/4254
Age Group = F40-44
Age Group Rank = 242/454
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30 AM and showered. I had breakfast (bagel with PB, peach, yogurt, green tea) and left at 5:30.
Event warmup:

Total warmup time was 30 minutes. I ran 2k, alternating jogs and sprints; I also did dynamic warmup exercises and some static stretches. I drank 4 ounces of water every 30 mins and had 1 pack of sports beans 10 minutes before the race began.
Run
  • 2h 10m 12s
  • 21.56 kms
  • 06m 02s  min/km
Comments:

My original time goal for this half-mary was 2 hours. I was right on pace for the first 12km (5'46"/km) but that changed the moment I began throwing walk breaks passed that point. I struggled finding my legs when I would begin running again.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I am quite happy with what I did today, I was more than 5 minutes faster than my first half-mary last October in Toronto.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked more than 1 km to the bus shuttle area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Other than the four walk breaks, nothing.

Event comments:

Great half-marathon venue and well organized. I will do it again for sure next year.

Performance: Good
From time mat A to time mat B, the distance was 21.56 kilometers. The finish times on both my HRM and chip were the same.
Course: The course starts at Mississauga’s City Hall, and makes its way west across the Credit River to Mississauga Road and then travels south for a beautiful stretch past the University of Toronto’s Mississauga Campus, Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, and continues through some of Mississauga’s most beautiful residential neighbourhoods, before winding along the scenic Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail, and finishing on the edge of Lake Ontario at Lakefront Promenade Park. An incline is found at 10K. The 'net' downhill aspect of this race still exists, however, with a 250' (or 80m) drop from start to finish.

Super job, Nathalie!  You did a good job of maintaining your goal pace.  It is hard to take a few steps or more walking  and then resume running.

Congrats on a good race . Nats

Reading your RR , a thought crossed my mind

Do you think , perhaps , looking back at your race and your energy levels , that you might have had more legs in the later half of the half-marathon if your pre race warmup had been shorter ?    I am saying this since you were looking to hit your  goal time .
