Total Time = 2h 43m 17s
Overall Rank = 488/1722
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 95/212
Event warmup:

Squeeze into wetsuit.
Swim
  • 25m 49s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty uneventful swim- took it easy and went probably a little slower than it should have been.. got beat up at the beginning more than usual. I was pretty unsuccessful drafting.
Transition 1
  • 05m 10s
Comments:

Wetsuit came off OK, but this continues to be an area of weakness for me.
Bike
  • 1h 20m 43s
  • 25.48 miles
  • 18.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Some stomach problems near the beginning of the race- maybe drank too much of the lake. Because of the stomach issues, I didn't take any nutrition on the bike. But overall, it went pretty well- I believe this was my fastest bike split in an Olympic-distance race. The race was hilly, but seemed to be pretty well balanced.. i.e. downhill recoveries seemed to be well placed.
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

Weak, weak, weak..
What would you do differently?:

Move it.
Run
  • 48m 55s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was pretty brutal- very hilly from the start, and I never got into a great rhythm. The run through the neighborhood was particularly difficult- my quads were very close to locking up, but the downhills came just in time.

Aid station support was great- very well organized. Really nice finish to the run.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training due to new baby. Lack of sleep due to new baby.

Event comments:

Overall I thought this was a great race- very well organized, a good challenge but not overwhelmingly difficult, and everything went right on time. I'll hope to do it again in the future.

Well done... really nice performance today!!  Agreed on the run, hills were tough, finish was great, around the lake, and nicely lined with folks down the chute.  Pretty impressive to have your fastest Oly bike at this venue.

Great effort. The run is one big uphill, it never seems to end. Nice effort on the bike, which at times also seems like one big uphill.
