Comments: Started out a little too fast, but got my pace until control after about a mile and a half. Just tried to focus on the hills and relax a bit on the downhills but not too much that I let up on the pace. Between 3 and 4 was the toughest stretch and ended up being my slowest mile. Mile 4-5 was mostly downhill with an uphill before the finish. I got passed a bit at the beginning when I was trying to get my breathing and pace under control, but after the turn around about 1.5 miles, I was only passed by one person. Being this is my first 5 mile race, its a PR. That's four this year, 5K, 5 miler, 10 miler, 1/2 marathon. What would you do differently?: Probably start out a little slower but it didn't hurt me too much this time. Post race
Warm down: Walked down to the turn to the finish to encourage the other runners. Drank some water. Talked to my buddy who finished a few minutes before me. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe familiarity with the course. Next time I'll know better how to attack it. Last updated: 2008-05-16 12:00 AM

Ate half a Milk Chocolate Brownie Powerbar on my way down to the race. Trying new things with nutrition since its been a work in progress for me. Really liked the Powerbar and my stomach seemed to handle it well also. Paired it with some Gatorade.
Not much time to warm-up. Did a little stretching and was ready to go.
