Overall Rank = 459/511
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 35/36
Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:45 and had fruit for breakfast (probably should have had a bagel). Drove to the race site by about 9:30am. Got race packets and then hung around in the community Church keeping warm.
Event warmup:

Jogged a few hundred meters to warm up a bit.
Run
  • 21m 13s
  • 4 kms
  • 05m 18s  min/km
Comments:

Legs still a little off from the 1/2 last week and the 47k bike ride on Saturday. Never felt that comfortable with the run, although did run with no breaks and no water breaks either.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe not do the race the week before.
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

A little slow at transition. Fumbled a little with the helmet and then the shoes not done up properly. Also spent too much time getting the laced undone on the running shoes too. But was trying to prepare for the second transition a little.
What would you do differently?:

Not use regular laces.
Bike
  • 1h 07m 16s
  • 25 kms
  • 22.30 km/hr
Comments:

Touch ride, with major head and side winds. Also some rain on the course too.
What would you do differently?:

Wear gloves and get some booties for the shoes and my feet were frozen when I got off the bike
Transition 2
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Had issues with the running shoe laces and had to redo them once.
What would you do differently?:

Not use laces.
Run
  • 24m 27s
  • 4 kms
  • 06m 07s  min/km
Comments:

Heavy legs (as expected), felt ok, but the hill back was pretty hard. Drank at the water stations.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered to the community centre and got post race food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Head winds and cold weather. Also some issues at the transitions.

Event comments:

Good race and nice event. Last years weather was fantastic and that is what I expected this year, but unfortunately it didn't happen.

Glad I did it though.
