I'm pretty poor at all, but run is my funnest and I consider it the strongest of the three. Running was my 1st love, I get "high" after it, don't get the same high after swimming or biking...

Strength - swimming - swam USS growing up.

Weakness - running - I just am not a huge fan and really have to force myself to train. I am happy if I can hit 9:40s these days on 3 mile runs.... and its a personal coup if I hit 5 miles in 52 min. It's a pure training issue obviously. Did I say I love the swim?

I am a strong cyclist, spent years racing mountain and road bikes

I am an average swimmer, I get from point a to point b with everybody else,

Once I get off the bike and start running, I get to see everyone I passed on the bike as they pass me back running! My run is WEAK!

I'm not fast so I dont know if that makes me weak in all three, but my strength is going out the door to train when I don't want to

  • ...and that's my weakness.

  • I'm a slightly above-average swimmer, slightly above-average cyclist, and an average/below-average runner. On a good day I'm a MOPer, on a bad day I'm a BOPer.

My strongest is my bike, my weakest is my run, but I'm pretty solidly MOP in all three.

My strength is swimming, I'm not much of a runner...
That being said, I enjoy the bike the most of all three! I need to work on my flats, but I love climbing hills

    Strength - Cycling.

As I said to my mentor group - I think it's because i've spent the last 3 years chasing my Fiance's Arse!  And what a great view that is to keep up with!!!

    Weakness Running!!!

There is one BIG reason for this.  In year 9 I had a bone infection and was unable to walk for a long time let alone run.  What my doctors and parents told me at the time was I could've lost my whole foot!!!

It took 1-2 years to walk properly after my body quelled the infection - But by then I'd drowned myself in academia so it was no biggy.

In my first tri I couldn't run 2km... So I walked it.  That just annoyed me because I'd done so well on the bike!  So I started learning to run.

I'm stilling really learning to run now.  It still panics me.  Thus it's a weakness.

Strongest: running (except I'm recovering from knee surgery right now, but hopefully that's temporary)

    OK: biking (ditto)

Very weak: swimming (I started because of the knee surgery)

Reasons: I've been running for over 20 years. I've been biking for over 20 years. I've been swimming for less than 20 weeks.

I've found that in most events, it does not do me much good to be a strong swimmer, an average biker, and a weak runner. Even when I come out of the water 5-7 minutes ahead of my firends, they can make that up on the bike or the run. I'm working on my run this year to bring my times down.

Typically, based on my rankings from most races, I would say the bike is my weakest event, and my run is my strongest.

Never quite sure why that is since I really don't spend alot of time swimming and don't really have any swimming background (played water polo in college but I was a goalie for the most part). On the swim I just relax, get in to a long smooth rhythm, and glide so I guess that works. I have spent most of my time improving my bike leg. I have improved quite a bit from 9.8 mph my first race to over 21 mph in some sprints, but I still have people blow past me like I'm standing still most races. The run I can understand, since I was a X-C/track runner in high school and still have flashbacks to those days I could run sub 4:40 miles (wow, that was 20 years ago, I feel old), and I have a better feel for how to push myself on the run and I don't have to hold anything back like on the bike and swim.

But I have improved alot over the years, and gotten myself back in decent shape, and have shown good progress in all three areas, which is very rewarding.

All are a struggle.. former college football player and rugbyin law school and there is no tackling or power lifting aspect to triathlons. But it is challenging and fun to see if I can change my body

Cycling: I'm weaker than I'd like to be because I just don't get out enough.

Running: I suck at running. With each passing year I'm feeling it more, and carrying a few extra pounds around doesn't make it any easier. I feel like a very old man after an easy 10k.

Swimming: I do duathlons. Fooling around in the water with the kids when they were younger was fun; training and trying to improve saps every atom of fun out of it.   Swimming is for fish.

    Why am I even here?

I like to say I swim like a gazelle and run like a fish.

Strong runner, decent (and improving) biker, average (and improving) swimmer.  This is my 3rd year doing tris, was a runner coming in.  Little or no biking background, even less swimming background.  Definitely enjoy the challenge of all 3 disciplines!  At the age (51) where swimming and biking are enjoyable because of less wear and tear on the body.  Since I'm new to biking and swimming still building a good strong base so expect to continue to see improvements for awhile.  I've learned about proper training which has also helped my strength discipline, running.   It'll be interesting to see with my relative late start into the triathlons how long I can keep improving before the age factor becomes enough of an issue that I just start trying to maintain the gains I've made.
