Run
Comments: I was pretty happy with this run. It was a PR for me at 5K (only my 3rd 5k) by almost 2 minutes. I had been worried about keeping the right pace. I was going to rely on my iPod, but it stopped working 30 minutes before the start. I hit the 1k mark at about 5:30 and just tried to stick to that pace. I was bitt slower in the middle, but pushed hard for the last 600 meters or so. What would you do differently?: Suck people into coming with me to race or to watch. I didn't really know anyone and I hate that feeling. I met a nice ladiy who will probably be doing the duathlon when I go out for next week's tri. Post race
Warm down: Post race massage. Light stretching of calves and hamstrings. What limited your ability to perform faster: A cold and limited training at this point Event comments: This was my first running race since gym class back in the 90's (not counting my first triathlon). I liked it a lot. They are not abig enough group to have chip timing, but they definitely know what they are doing. I am going to try to get to all of their events. Last updated: 2008-03-21 12:00 AM

Got up early and had a decaf green tea, banana and a peanut butter folder. This turned out to be a very appropriate amount of food. I had packed my stuff the night before, so a warm shower and I was out the door
Light massage (provided by the organizers) and minimal stretching. It was warm IF you were in the sun. Knowing the race would not be in the sun (shaded laneways) I put on my arm warmers.
