Event warmup:

Woke up. Showered. Walked across the street to the start. Met up with 1TT and we caught a bus to the start by the capital. I checked our bags while he waited for the portajohn. Good times.

Comments:

I woke up at about 5:30 thinking I'd forgotten to turn on the alarm, but it hadn't gone off yet, of course. :) When I finally DID get up I realized my cold had returned. After I got running, though, it didn't seem to bother me much other than a few hackers. Yum.

The run was a ton of fun. It wasn't too hilly but had a couple. Whoever invented hills should be bitchslapped and then be forced to make me some apple cobbler.

I started WAYYYYY in the back by the 2:20 pacers when I wanted to run a 1:40 because the start was packed and I couldn't get through. I then spent the first three-ish miles trying to get past the slower people, but it was really crowded on somewhat narrow roads.

I managed to catch the 2:10, 2:00 and 1:50 pacers and pass them all but never did find that pest 1:40 group. Oh well. Something to shoot for next time. I probably would've gone a bit faster but I chatted up this bizkit from miles 6 to 10 and she was running about a 1:50 pace. Ah well, made the race go by faster.
What would you do differently?:

Start with the right pace group. Not chat up a slower hottie. Instead chat up a FASTER hottie. Booyah! I should've also eatn something before the race. My stomach was growling at the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Got water and went to try to see 1TT and the other Donks finished. I must've missed them all. I waited about 20 minutes. Apparently Schwammy was in the crowd but I missed her too!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Chatting up a slower hottie.

Event comments:

Awesome race! I'd recommend it to anyone. Plus Schwammy took me to the `Essen Haus' German bar and grill und wir trinken Deutsche bier. Es was sehr gut!

Oh yeah I want to give a HUGE thanks to DeannaS and her husband and child for throwing the shindig at their house! The food was excellent and the company was even better. Well, except for that 1TT dude. ;)

It was good to meet everybody!!!

Great job.  Way to chase the fast pacer down.  Only 4 minutes to knock off.  You can do it!

Dude, you should have been with my pace bootie!

Glad you made it back safe and all is well.  You're a lot of fun and very respectful (wait, ladies, I didn't say that).

I thought for sure you were going to hit the 1:40 time, but I guess I didn't help any with just HAVING to use the toidy beforehand and NOT being able to find you and "learn you" to sneak along the barricades to get in closer to the starting line.  Sorry, my bad.

EEEEAAAAWWW!!!

Nice job out there! i tried to ring my bell for you, but it just didn't work out. Your doppleganger got all the action instead.

You should definitely come up sometime when you won't have to run a half in the morning. Who wants to polka!?

I think I'm waiting on them. Sadly nobody brought a camera to our Donkai outing on Saturday evening. PRobably best, as Schwammy was dancin' for dollars on the table.
