This race is run weird...BIKE then SWIM then RUN
Swim
  • 36m 26s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was AFTER the bike so getting my suit on was unusual but I did the baggie on the feet trick and it want OK. I was doing pretty well until the last 1/3 of the 2nd lap my right calf cramped up big time and I had to do something I have never done before and that was hold on the the life guard board until it relaxed. I met Jenn there she was having a similar issue. I guess being hot then in the cold water was the issue
What would you do differently?:

I don't want to ever cramp up again but I don't really know how to avoid it in that situation.
Transition 1
  • 04m 14s
Comments:

Getting in the wet suit AFTER riding the bike was interesting.
Bike

Comments:

I am sure glad that I did all those climbing repeats this winter or I would have walked the whole thing but as it was I only had to walk about the last 1/3 of the last short climb but made it up the long ones with out walking Another WHOO HOO! moment
What would you do differently?:

I don't think anything

Comments:

It was hard to run being so tired and I thank Cach for all those double days so I would know how to run when I just wanted to take a nap :)
Post race

OMG, what an amazing day for you.  You did an awesome job!  Congrats on making those hills. You are such a biker babe-studdette!   Can't imagine how scary it was cramping up in the water, but good for you hanging in there with it and going on.  You are amazing Chris!

Outstanding stuff, Chris!!!  My cramps sunk me on this race....my first 'FOBK'. Fished out by Kayak!!  Awesome way to hang in there; it was WARM for that 2nd race.

Did you see the guy that came crawling out of the water on all fours?  The guy literally was one big cramp, just sitting there balled up shaking on the beach. It was that kind of day, booya for you for finishing!!!

What a tough swim.  I already know that I can't swim competitively (maybe I could after crap loads of training, who knows), but I damn well I would drawn if I road that hilly course first.  I have cramped up in the water before.  If the water water was deeper than my neck, I am sure I'd cramp and drown.

Good job holding the bike time close to your first, not too bad a drop off on the run either.
