Hi guys, I'm jumping the gun here a bit but the RiverCities sign up is this Sunday and I know most of you will be up early to sign up.

I've checked Sportspectrum's website but they have not yet updated the registration/apps for RiverCities yet. But since I'm in the local tri club here I know a bit of inside info especially for this year's pasta dinner.

In year's past the pasta dinner was held at the host casino/hotel site, but this year will mark the first time the carbo load dinner will be held at our new Robinson Film Center . It will be a pasta dinner and a movie. I'm not sure yet what the movie will be, but it should be sports-related and inspirational. The RFC is our new independent film and multimedia center. It's quite a facility, designed much like a New York City loft with two major movie screening rooms. RFC also has a bistro on the 3rd floor and at any given time you can order food and drink and take it into the movie theater with you.

Sportspectrum has rented the entire 3rd floor which includes the bistro and the multimedia room where they will be showing the movie.

Why am I telling you this? Well, there are only 300 spots available at $20 per adult and kids 12 and under $10. Normally Laura and I would totally be up for a BT dinner meeting so we can all get together, but Laura is the grant writer for RFC and we're both members of Sunrise and this is the first year they are putting this together, so we're expected to be at this pasta dinner.

I know that most of you would probably prefer to just do a group BT dinner thing, but we can still get together at the pasta dinner. No pressure, just wanted to get the word out to you all first since there isn't even any info out there yet.

I know that I'm excited for the BT group that is signing up. I have always looked forward to RiverCities and getting to know more BT members.

Cool! I have no idea how fast the 300 spots will sell out, just wanted to FYI you guys. Now I have to get my butt in gear for training!

Also, a clarification, I think the movie will be playing on 3 different screens in the multimedia room during the pasta dinner.

Anyway, this info is only meant as info. I know I'm jumping the gun on the BT get-together dinner, it's my way of saying that I'm sorry we won't be able to meet up with you guys at a local restaurant!!

(rambling off)

Not to be a spoilsport, but our experience with race-sponsored pasta dinners is that you get little more than Ragu with meat sauce served over spaghetti at an exorbitant price. Since we'll have the kids, it would cost us $80 to do this thing, and we can eat at nearly any full-service restaurant for that. Yeah, we're cheap, but need to be.

So we'll probably pass on this and make reservations at the Macaroni Grill or similar if anyone wants to join us. As we have the past two years.

Just as a sidebar, I'll be on here at 5:30 am Sunday trying to register, and will probably be in a chat room if anyone wants to join me.

Do you know how many spots will still be available? If you register for the Red River Tri you get a chance to register early for River Cities. The web site does not tell you what the field limit is for Red River, so I am worried that there may be less than the 1300 spots available for River Cities.

The 300 spots was for the pasta dinner and I doubt it will sell out on registration day. RiverCities should cap out at 1300 spots like last year. However, there is early registration for Red River participants and Sunrise members (we get to register Saturday night). There will probably be at least 1000 spots available Sunday morning. Don't quote me on it though.

Meant to add that no one is a spoilspot except maybe Laura and myself because we feel obligated to go to this pasta dinner. I hope no one thought there was any pressure. I was just jumping the gun a bit to let BT know that we won't be able to do the BT dinner this year.

Hey Michale!!  Haven't seen you in quite some time; hope all is well.  I am probably going to register tomorrow even though my likelihood of attendance is about 50-50.  My kiddo gets out of camp on Saturday the 2nd, and once we pick her up I don't think I have enough time to get to packet pick up (it is a 6.5 hour drive from her camp to Shreveport).

My wife offered to go pick her up without me, but that's a long drive (5 hours each way) for her, and this is Madison's last year at this camp; I've been there for closing ceremonies every year she has gone...I wish SportsSpectrum would allow someone else to get my packet for me.

Did you receive a confirmation number. I received an email that said I am successfully registered with a transaction number, but no confirmation number. Just a little paranoid I guess. I really do not want to miss this race.

The crazy thing is, it is 2:00 p.m. and this race isn't sold out...usually it sells out in a couple hours.  Guess we didn't need to camp out by the computer at 5:45 a.m.  Wonder why it isn't selling out as fast...gas prices?

IIRC, you could still register by late afternoon last year. I think they had one year where they sold out in three hours and just continue to use that as a marketing slogan.

Better, though, to be safe than sorry. I'm up at 5am to do my run regardless, didn't take but a minute to register.

Go to that GetMeRegistered site and put your name in where it says "Confirm An Entry." That shows me that I am registered:
