I finished at 4:54. I was amazed at how fun this race was, besides the pain.

Thanks for everyone who came and supported the runners.

cats and dogs.. running through those lakes was something else.  i could see the hot breath turn into fog as I leaped  over large emerging  puddles and rivers refuse of fallen leaves on the roadsides.... it was a 'moment' for sure.. the down pour seemed to get worse in the foliage areas.. then on the river it seemed to subside.. I felt my sweat pants dry up and de-couple from being glued to my legs while the were wet.. it was a great race though.. amazing crouds and yes.. the race is definitely very scenic and 'beautiful' no doubt.  I missed my goal by 15 minutes.. but I PRd by 17 so its all good.  last 10k were agony .. those summit hills kindah dont look bad but they took their toll for sure..

Does anyone else have signficant chaffing in unmentionable places due to the rain affecting their wardrobe choice?  If not, never mind this post.... I'm asking on behalf of... ummmm.....  a friend.

...or the BodyGlide you'd normally use for wetsuit rash...

Sadly... "my friend" used both.  Body Glide before the race and Vaseline during the race..... oh well, another learning experience.

Hmm...I wonder if your friend, or any of us for that matter have considered using tri shorts for a rainy marathon.  It'd be like running one LONG 26.2 mile T1!

I really credit those of you who did the full 26.2 in the rain. I had only 1.5 in the rain on the 10 mile and that was enough. Didn't know I could get quite that wet and not really know it...sounds weird, I know, but while running I wasn't cold so I didn't really realize that I was soaked, other than my feet. And all the Body Glide in the world didn't help  me there.

I had a deep, deep massage on my legs yesterday afternoon at LTF. Hate to pay the price but knew I'd be paying a different price today without it. Woke up this morning feeling better than I ever have post-race. I figured if I could get through the race with no ITB issues I'd surely have them by today and judging by the junk she worked out of my hams & glutes, I think I would have been verrry sad today without it. Now I need to figure out how to work that into the race plan for Seattle, between the race and my flight home...

Running room (as well as other running stores) sells running shorts with a compression short built in.  It served me very well yesterday.  I try to only look like a triathlete at triathlons

I wore some Rebock compression shorts under some baggy shorts at the race. The pockets in the baggy shorts did their job holding 3 gels, a package of sport beans, band aids, and lip balm. Oh yeah, and the most important thing for me in the marathon, a Trash bag. The compression shorts cost about $15 at Kohls most of the time. I didn't need any body glide, or vaseline. I had been thinking about Tri shorts under my baggy shorts, but decided to stick with what I had trained with.

I finish at 5:18, not quite the results I'm hoping for. I just can't get into a nice rhythm, I'm either too fast or too slow. Anyway, my hammy goes out around mile 20 and walk run to the finish.
My legs felt tight and heavy on Monday and Tuesday, but it got better yesterday.

For choices of wardrobe, it was a compression short and a baggy on the outside, with bodyglide. I'm really happy that I finished without any chaffing or blisters.

Great Job Everyone, see you guys in Buffalo next year.

I just thought I would mention that, while you guys were killing yourselves running in the rain, I was at a golf course up by my cabin getting in 18. It drizzled for 3 holes on the back 9, which really screwed up my grip......

x2. Wind gust really threw off my distances, but otherwise it was beautiful.
