Anyone else doing the 10 mile (at the very early hour of 7:13AM)?

And I have a logistics question for those who have done this race before: Does it make  (as in, is it "easy" to plan on taking the bus back to the Dome from the finish? I am going down solo so i haven't quite figured out my get-back-to-the-car plan.

Sweetcorn - 2008-09-26 11:54 PM I'm signed up for this race. Any chance BTers are getting together before or after for some cheers??

I'll be at the family events on Saturday morning.  Might run 1/2M with nephew or 5K w/daughter.   Going to expo about noon.   Race Day - i'll be attending a church service prior to race and possibly get over to Gate D for meet-greet.

If i don't get a chance to meet anyone - good luck in the racem and have a great/safe weekend.

Good luck marathon virgin!

TCM was my first and I'll never forget the feeling of cresting the last hill and seeing the American flag flapping and all of the folks liking the road. Cool stuff.

Remember, the race starts when you get to St Paul.

If you live on the St Paul side of the river, I can help with logistics. I park (or get dropped at) the Kelly Inn and hop a shuttle over to the Dome. Your vehicle will be at the finish for you when you're done.

Anybody know of a good place to park to watch the finish.  I'm going to watch at around mile 22 on Summit Avenue and then need to bust my hump to get to the finish in time to see Kelly.  A little worried about finding a place close enough to park and then make it to the finish line in time.

Not running this Sunday, but if I were, and it were 52-59 with a high chance of rain, I'd probably wear an UnderArmor vest and a long-sleeved technical shirt and shorts.

Bring a disposable rain coat, poncho or even a garbage bag with holes cut in it.  Wear it as you warm up, then throw it out or drop it off at one of the aid stations once you warm up.

Sometimes I'll go to a thriift store and buy an old sweatshirt or long sleeve cotton shirt, wash it then wear that for the 1st mile or 2 then leave it at an aid station or on the side of the road.  The volunteers pick them up and donate them back to the thrift stores.  Beats starting the race with teeth chattering and hypothermia.

Good luck to all running this Sunday.

I may hit the expo tomorrow during lunch break, or Saturday afternoon.

looking at weather forecast now - i plan on white underarmor l/s under my blue/black nike singlet.  black race ready shorts, white hammergel in back pockets.  cheap gloves and cheap knit black winter hat (throw away if too warm).  if they take rain out of forecast or later in day, i'll go short sleeve craft top instead on l/s underarmor.  Probably have on red hoody sweatshirt before start (TriWisconsin logo on front - swim/bike/run on the back)

Race plan is to run with 3:30 pace group for as long as i can.

Good Luck everyone - Steve #1342

Phew thanks! I heard that other Marathons take the sweats and donate them but I hadn't heard anything for this one. I will pick up a cheap-o sweatshirt. Thanks!!

GREAT RUN EVERYONE!!! the rain was the WORST!!! Not sure about anyone else but I locked you around 8 miles. I was on a roll too...8:30's.....so good! then I got soar and swollen

I didn't end the way I wanted to...30 minutes past my goal but I finished. That's all that matters.

I finished the freaking race. I got to the half in some pain at 2:13, but my calves and hammy's wouldn't let me run past 17. I walked in, and finished at 5:19:31. I am in pain right now. Ice is good. Walking today is hard. You have to love running in a trash bag. That was my wardrobe from about mile 3 to mile 25. May not have looked great, but I could pull my arms in from time to time, and warm up. Congrats to anyone who finished yesterday.

Big kudos to anyone that finished the mary yesterday.  Looked out the window at 8am and saw the rain and felt for ya.  Way to tough out a tough race.  Congrats!

Didn't make my 3:10 goal, but managed to finish in 3:48...can honestly say there was about 6-7 times that I debated finishing or not...glad I did, but now I am in PAIN!!

I missed my goal by 5 minutes and would love to blame the weather but it was my legs that were the problem.  The rain sucked, but I kept my gloves on and I really think that made all the difference in the world.  I was never cold during the race.  After the race is a different story entirely.

Next marathon I'll do a much better job at tapering and hopefully I won't be distracted by work so badly in the weeks leading up to the race.

Good job to all who finished.  It was a crazy day!
