Tricupcake: Welcome to the group and hope you stick around awhile. I have heard that portabella mushrooms taste pretty good instead of hamburger, but they are way to close to veggie for me(yes I know they are a fungus....yuch!!)

Runningwoof: Glad to hear about Rickey being okay. Now quit eating junk and get to work.

Travjini: A girl after my own heart. Love that daily food list....LOL. Now stop it!!!!

Ooops....sorry sailing! I forgot to tell you I changed my name This is kappie. Changed my name since my old name is made up of my initials and I hope for those to be changing soon (due to divorce, not marriage).

So, I am now (and maybe forever will be) tricupcake!

P.S. sailing - thanks for answering my question...very impressive that you actually recommended a pseudo-veggie to me!

Traxster: It is NEVER to late to join Team Skinny.  We weigh in on Wed. and set monthly goals (until me or the rest of them want to change it)..  Any questions feel free to ask.  Its been mentioned, but it is not ALL about the scale:  pay attention to clothes as well,  cut out as much junk food as possible, try to eat 4-6 times a day (small meals).

Thanks Tricupcake, Now I am having an identity crisis..Who am I ? and Who are these people?

Trav:  TOFU!!!! Dang, I have NEVER been able to wrap my head around eating a spongy growth of stuff.  That has no flavor until you cook it with something and is soft and mushy and well I will just say it YUCHY.....Way into the Veggie realm.

Well, this is true, it absorbs the flavors around it.  As for soft and mushy, that's why I go with the extra firm.  BUt I hear ya, it's definitely an acquired taste.  But dollars per gram of protein, ya can't beat it, if you're looking to go veg.  I'm not necessarily veg, but s/times I like to switch up from chicken and fish.

tricupcake - 2008-06-27 1:33 PM I'm trying to research alternative sources of meat that actually taste like meat. I had something called Smart BQ and it was disgusting. The consistency was all off and that's usually what I have a problem with for any kind of food. Have any of you skinnies tried anything other than the Morningstar and Boca products?

Well, might I suggest tofu? I know, I get amazing amounts of grief from coworkers but truly, if you find some great recipes, and cook with it well, it can be really really tasty. I generally buy the "extra firm" and you can find some interesting stuff online to try. One key is to make sure you get all the water out, I put it btwn paper towels and soak it out. And of course what you don't use, store in a tub with water.......

The other added bonus is it's amazingly cheap!

Can you freeze it?  My problem is I buy some and then I don't eat it fast enough (ok, I keep thinking about it but other stuff sounds better) and then it goes bad and I have to throw it out.

So... it turns into just a waste of money.  If I could freeze it though...

Josh, I hope you are doing better today!

I had to take Rickey to have an endoscopy, as a follow up to being hospitalized a couple months ago.  It has been a nerve racking 3 weeks, they informed us there was a slight chance he had stomach cancer.  So today was the day they went in looking for it.  I have happy to report that there is no cancer...and the bleeding ulcers he had (original reason for hospitalization) have completely healed...So big sigh of relief here...Food wise I am holding strong.  but for some reason, I always feel hungrier when I am at home then when I am at work.  odd!

So far today:

Breakfast - 1 protein shake

Snack - 1 string cheese and some roasted pumpkin seeds

Lunch - 2 slices low fat bologna and 2 slices swice chees and sugar free jello

That's great about ricky, send my love and congrats. Try to keep him healthy!!!!!! Besides, why is it odd to be hungry at home... That's where the fridge is! I would think you would want to be hungrier or most hungry while at home, that way you have control over what you pull out for breakie, lunch, and dinner + snacks.

It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder, otherwise known as MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) and there are a slew of other Dissociative Disorders in this group like fugue states, amnesia, all of which could be sparked by a traumatic event ( a form of PTSD), perhaps it was actually the fact that you mention a fungus as a healthy alternative...

Here are my accounts for yesterday: (and I'm feeling much better thank you)

Well first the other night crisis, I ended up slapping myself and just drinking a protein shake, plus some excedrin and went to bed.
Morning of the funural... I had my cereal as usual, went to the event and basically sat around staring at all the unhealthy people. It's amazing how many people first stare at you for being somewhat in shape, and then like a deer in headlights, you tend to stare back (of course without mentioning a word of what you're really thinking). Mom and I were invited to the procession after the burial, but we opted not to go, there's something about other people's kitchens that scares me, (it was probably catered!!! Just my luck ). So mom and I had to go and pay a credit card bill, and it just so happened that the clothiers store is in the same complex as the movie theater, so while she did that I went and bought the tickets... BTW Wall-E was cute, very cute... If you like Pixar, you'll like this one!!!! But before all this she and I had to eat, guess where??? CHEESECAKE FACTORY!!!!! Duh?!?!?!?!? Unfortunately, my mom was in a hurry so before I could make an informed decision, I chose a romano crusted chicken on a bed of spaghetti. It was kind of bland!!! Had a small beer with it, and afterwards a slice of oreo cheesecake.... Because of the calories I didn't eat again till after the movie (like 10 hrs later) Ended the night with a two small sections of fat free Keilbasa (I know probably spelled wrong, and I'm polish too!!!) with mustard, and then two sugar free jell-o cups. I drank a ton of water, cause it was hotttttt! most of the day, around 100F.
Now for my fast I've decided this... 3 protein shakes (evenly spaced) and 3 oranges (same), for 60 hours or 2.5 days might go 3... and because I'm on a restricted diet, I've decided to be on light duty for workouts.... I'm not planning on doing anything extensive until Monday... I need a wknd off, and I don't want to hurt myself with crashing. Plus I'm already injured, in-grown toenail (big toe, left ft). I had to do some minor surgery on myself last night, it was getting pretty painful, so though I'm not limping, any real pressure or sweaty socks (as in running, might get it infected). I might do some yoga for a couple of days, and call this whole thing a retreat! How's that sound????

So, accountability so far:

Breakfast: 1 shake
Snack: Orange
Lunch: 1 shake
snack: Orange

I'll leave you to guess what's for dinner and desert.

Alright 22 hrs gone, and I'm pulling my hair out!!! I'm a carnivore baby, I need MEAT!

Actually, things are going suprisingly well, there were a couple of times I wanted to stick a straw in the mayonnaise jar (actually that's kind of gross, now that I think about it). But what I'm really talking about is similar to those first few days without a cigarette, mostly psychological that manifests physically. I've had to down a full glass of water, or shake, or eat the orange, every 3 hrs. and after that full feeling (satiety), I get better. About to hit the sack early, hoping that I can sleep away at least 8-10 of the next 38 hrs. I just hope I don't sleep walk to the fridge, and cook me up some bacon wrapped, stix of butter.

Accountability so far...

Breakie: Shake
Snack: exchanged a grapefruit for an orange.
Lunch: Shake
Snack: Orange
Dinner: 2 huge glasses of water

might get up later for a snack (shake).

Oh, and if you guys feel like it send some inspires AbbieR's way, she needs some encouragement. You wouldn't know it, but she's feels not worthy since she's hit a plateau. I told her that despite whatever changes we make, it's still a two way street, by encouraging others at Team Skinny. And I know she knows this, I just wanted to let her know that we were thinking about her abscence and hoping all is well.

Had a little bit of a rough day, okay a bad day. Went across the state yesterday and met up with a group of BTers this morning for  40 mi ride and 4 mi run. Afterwards me and the wife went shopping and I ate not so good.

We ate at Potbellys, first time and very good. Then a few road snacks and an impromtu family party before we even got home. So sad to say a six pack later and we are home licking our wounds. Tomorrow will be better.

Hey, Skinnies!

Nothing good to say about eating today, but I did want to share ...

I did my first successful OWS triathlon today! (I did one last year and I sucked...lots of kayak and buoy hanging...and dragging in it backstroke). Today, I had to backstroke a couple times to get my breath, but otherwise it was freestyle all the way, no kayak hanging, AND it was about twice the distance of the other sprint swims I've done!!!

I'm so proud of myself, I ate 2 oreos, and the post-race brunch of pulled pork BBQ, coleslaw, and potato salad. And now I'm going to have a nice lunch of leftover pizza. (There's only 3 slices left and I have to share, so no chance of going overboard. But I think we're going out for ice cream this afternoon. Yikes!)

Great Job to everyone....I was pretty good over the weekend...not perfect...but pretty good...mainly I kept in control, and if I ate something bad, I didn't let it lead me to other bad things.  I have achieved my goal of 195 for June...So for July I want to hit 190.  Taking this whole thing slow.

Hope everyone has a great monday!
