Total Time = 1h 40m 8s
Overall Rank = 81/162
Age Group = 36-39
Age Group Rank = 18/40
Pre-race routine:

Got up around .5 after a sleepless night. Light stretching. Ate a banana and drank some gatorade
Event warmup:

Since this was my first real tri, I was not sure what to do. I walked around checking out all of the nice bikes and went into the water to get a feel for my wetsuit.
Swim
  • 20m 20s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim is by far my weakest area. I was nervous before the start and went too hard too early. I definately need to work on my swimming
What would you do differently?:

Work more on my swimming conditioning
Transition 1
  • 02m 25s
Comments:

Getting out of the wetsuit was a breeze. Had no problem getting helmet on. Had a problem getting my shoes clipped into my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not much - I would like to practice leaving my shoes clipped into the bike. Seems like it would make for an easier exit
Bike
  • 47m 43s
  • 15 miles
  • 18.86 mile/hr
Comments:

I should have gone harder on the bike. I used HEED and it didn't sit well with me for some reason. I had a hard time slowing down my breathing and HR the first few miles
What would you do differently?:

Need to get a better hydration plan. I did not feel fresh on the run and have a feeling it was due to my lack of hydration/nutrition on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

OK - I realized the difference between tri biking shoes and road biking shoes. First off - my shoes are the Shimano's with the 3 straps and are not very easy to get on or off. They are also not very easy to run in.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Run
  • 28m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a hard time on the run. It was hot and I don't feel like I prepared well on the bike. I also stopped at both aid stations and drank 2 small cups of water. I lost time by doing that
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more bricks so I can get my legs more accustomed to the run
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some water and sat in the shade

What limited your ability to perform faster:

1st time nerves. Swim and run need to be improved. Especially the swim. I mainly want to focus on not getting so tired on the swim

Event comments:

Don't have much to compare it to, but I was really impressed. Great race!
