What would you do differently?:

nohing
Transition 1
  • 03m 19s
Comments:

run to transition was good, wet suit came off ok, but feet were too wet and bike shoes did not come on fast enough, fumbled with helmet, took forever to put on gloves, then ran with bike ok
What would you do differently?:

dont fumble around with gear
Bike
  • 48m 46s

Comments:

rode hard but I guess I could have taken the hills harder then I did, they brought my average speed down considerably
What would you do differently?:

ride the hills harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

this transition felt better, ran out feeling good
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 26m 21s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

first mile felt good, passed a 2 or three clydes that were ahead of me on the bike, then started to feel the heat a bit on mile two, slowed down, was kinda bummed when I realized that I was not running sub 8 miles, picked it up on last mile, finished feeling strong, wished the run was longer so that I could have had more time to catch one more guy in front of me in my age group (he was less then a minute ahead of me)
What would you do differently?:

run faster, i did not push it to the max, perhaps I was already thinking about the half-ironman coming up next Sunday.
Post race
Warm down:

dumped two cups of water over me, and realized that I was hot, i should have taken advantage of the water on the course to cool down as I was running

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think it was the heat that snuck up on me as i was running

Event comments:

Today was a monumental day, the Pigman Sprint 2006 was my first triathlon ever. Two years ago I finished it in 1hr 48 minutes, bottom 10 of the clydesdales. Now two years later 1hr 28min, top ten of the clydesdales. Today I also beat my fastest sprint triathlon time to date by 12 minutes. Next weekend half-ironman, bring it on!!!

Photos coming soon, I forgot to mention that I was on a club team, the Cutthroats. Six people who I work with and trained with for past 5 months, everyone did awesome!!
Andrew "Hoobs" got 5th in AG with a screaming 1hr 14
Sean "Ex mountain biker" Rocked his first triathlon in 1hr29
Jenny "I only trained a month for this" also slammed her first triathlon and placed 5th in her AG
John "the BOSS" killed the bike riding for the first time ever on aero bars (thats right, he picked up the bike yesterday, rode it around his yard, and then showed up with it this morning) on a borrowed Cervelo P3 ...that was one sweet tire, trispoke HED/HED Disk.
Mary "Get Outta My Way" set a new PR
and the Team averaged 1hr29min overall, sixth place, and setting a new PR for the Cutthroats!
