oh man, the storms were great last night in Chicago!!  That lightening was cracking right outside my window!!  Sampson (the cat) would run up to the window, and boom!, a bolt would crack and he dart clear across the condo... only to come back a few seconds for more.  The only thing missing was my bf... I find thunderstorms and lightening storms somewhat romanticKiss

Apparently several tornadoes touched down west of my area, but failry close and I guess one even touched down somewhere in my town. It took me AN HOUR to get home last night, and I live TWO MILES from my office. As far as I can tell, there was only one traffic light out in the whole stretch home and it wasn't a major one, so I'm not sure what the problem was. Idiots.

I'm in Chesterfield County (SW suburbs of Richmond) and they were running weather reports all last night about tornado warnings north of us. Sucks. I did get a good ride in before the weather turned sour, though, so that's a good thing.

It was awesome to watch them build up last night here in the South Chicago burbs.  The lightening was awesome.  One hit let loose, around 1 am, that sounded like it was in the room!  Yeah, definitely woke me up.

I love summer storms like that.  Then again, I'm originally from Tornado Alley (OKC) and sometimes we used to go out to try to spot the tornado.  Ok, so not the smartest thing to do, but sure was fun.  Even got to watch one from a friend's roof once.  Awesome.

Hope everyone was safe last night.  Be safe today too.

Did anybody see the latest Triathlete mag? There's a pic in there of 2 waterspouts/tornadoes right before the swim start of a race. Very cool pic.

In a strongly-worded statement Thursday, the National Weather Service warned that parts of Kansas could see hail bigger than baseballs, 80-mph-plus winds and "a few strong to violent long-lived tornadoes."

This may ruin my run tonight.

We pretty much have thunder lightening and down pours everyday here in FL in the summer......makes it a steam bath instead of just bloody HOT.  No need for a sauna here!!!

Really - even if there is lightning in the sky?

Do you use the blow drier in the shower too?

I'm not feeling this weather either.  I would really like to get a decent night's sleep; the lightning this week has been so bright that at first I thought the neighborhood kids were playing with flashlights (school's just ended).  On Tuesday the forecast for this weekend was promising, but it has since deteriorated severely.  Alas, I was really hoping for an OWS.
