Swim
  • 31m 21s
  • 820 yards
  • 03m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

2nd OWS-not any better than the first. I really paniced for the first 250 meters. Could not get my breathing right. After 250 meters started to settle down. Sighting was terrible. I need to find places to practice sighting
What would you do differently?:

Need more OWS practice
Transition 1
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

better time than my last transition.I was loopy leaving the water
What would you do differently?:

practice speed during transitions and figuring out how to jump on bike with shoes already clipped in
Bike
  • 48m 24s
  • 11.4 miles
  • 14.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Course very difficult for me.I did the best I could considering the heat and the hills. Heat index was close to 100 during the bike ride.
What would you do differently?:

ride the course several weeks in advance so I would know what to expect-put ice in water bottles
Transition 2
  • 03m 9s
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Run
  • 30m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

It was really hot-run was hilly till the end-passed several people-sprinted the last 150 yards with a young lady-she thanked me for pushing her at the end. That is the 2nd time I have done that during a race-it makes it fun

My polar said I was 2 minutes faster. Still, this was one of my slowest runs in a while-heat obviously a huge factor
What would you do differently?:

pour more water on myself during run
Post race
Warm down:

stretched and drank a lot of water-took an electrolyte tablet-sat in shade and tried to cool down-talked to friends for the Greensboro area

What limited your ability to perform faster:

heat and maybe nutrition

Event comments:

Volunteers and racers were great. I think there were a lot of no shows because of the heat

Way to beat the heat. I agree about the course descriptions. The second and third big hill definitely were not rolling hills.
