Pre-race routine:

Slept in...contemplated staying in bed...decided to go despite I had no time to eat. I picked up a fast coffee on the way.
Event warmup:

Got marked up...set up my transition area...pre-race meeting...go time!

Comments:

Had a good run...felt good. Took it easy...I had a long way to go!
What would you do differently?:

Wake up on time! EAT SOMETHING!!!!!
Transition 1

Bike
  • 1h 30m 53s
  • 40 kms
  • 26.41 km/hr
Comments:

First 3 laps went as planned, rested on the down hills a little. Kept spinning on the up hills. Last lap starts with a little uphill...I felt sluggish and felt like I was pushing pillows on my pedals. I looked down to see my back tire almost flat!! WTF!!! I pulled over and decided instead of changing the tube out to give it a shot of CO2...it was night and day! It held until the finish...the tire was completely flat when I got back home. New tube me thinks!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 1h 05m 40s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 34s  min/km
Comments:

Did a half loop and had to poop...NOW! Ducked into a rest room and had a little sit down (approx. 6 minutes) I think it's ironic to have the runs while running! (HeHeHe) It turns out the ENDURA I drank on the bike (approx. 700ml) did not agree with my stomach...empty as it was! I just loaded up on Gatorade on each aid station and dumped H2O over my head to stay cool. Took one walk break on each of the first 2 loops. On the last 2 loops I walked only to drink at each aid station. (kind of pumped about that!)
What would you do differently?:

Not drink ENDURA ever again on the bike! Enura = pipe cleaner for the gut!!!
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and did some stretching. Ate some water melon. THEY RAN OUT OF CUPS AT THE GOODY TENT...I ran to my bike...OK, OK I walked to my bike in transition and got an empty water bottle...WASHED OUT ANY LAST REMNANTS OF ENDURA...and drank some water and gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

1) flat tire on bike
2) poop break
3) not eating breakfast before
4)ENDURA experiment was not good!
