Comments:

I self seeded myself about 15 yards back from the front. The first half mile or so seemed a bit slow due to congestion. I knew this is not a PR course, so I didn't press myself to run as hard as I could. The first 4 miles I ran around an 8 minute pace, give or take 5 seconds. Mile 5 had the biggest hill and I slowed partially because I had to pee. Just after the 5 mile marker I found a place in the bushes and took care of business. Those were my 2 slowest miles. The remainder of the race my pace was around 7:50 give or take. I've only done this race once before on a different course configuration, and I was about 10 minutes faster this time.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on steeper hills. Make this a goal race instead of just an event to do.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, had some water, talked with some friends, jogged back to my car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did a 2 mile race the previous day and pushed the pace pretty hard. Plus I didn't taper for this race at all, running almost 13 miles on Friday.

Event comments:

This is a very challenging course and draws a good field of runners due to prize money to the overall winners/placers. The course is very scenic.

Performance: Average
Course: Primarily an out and back course. Pretty much all hills. The first 5 miles trended generally upward over 4 sizeable climbs and several smaller hills. The downhill sections seemed short relative to the uphill. The return trended mostly downhill, but still had several sizeable ups, mixed in with some decent down.
