Let the number posting begin...

Just got mine in the mail and since I didn't
have a 10K time this past year due to running
2 ful marathons (NYC and Disney) and 3 half
marathons in the spring, I'm in Time Group 2
again!

Bib number 23XX9

Cool! Maybe our numbers will come today!

Time group 2 is still pretty fast, especially if you seed yourself towards the front. Also, for next time, the seeding window is pretty large (two years, I think) and I think they consider what you write on your application, even if it isn't an "official" time or the time is greater than 55 mins.

We didn't think that we got in, but lo an behold there were two envelopes from ATC in the mail yesterday. We are in TG 5 and 6 (although I think Wonder Woman will just run with me in 6).

Wow- it seems early this year. I'll have to check my mail today. Hoping for a seeded number. I never looked to see if my check got cashed to know if I got in- holding thumbs. It looks like this heat is here to stay, so it's going to be a scorcher.

I included a time of an hour in a recent race and they placed me in Time Group 2.

Wifey and I did not submit times ... so going from Time Group 1b last year to Time Groups 7 + 8 this year.  Time grouping doesn't bother me so much this year as this race, given the sheer amount of people, is more about celebrating running than stressing over time.

This will be her second 10k (P'tree was her first last year), so grouping doesn't matter to her insomuch as she finishes while having fun doing it.

I'm in time group 1A but not sure I will be running this year. I may decide to go home instead in which case I would be leaving ATL the Wednesday before. Too bad you can't sell your number

You're not supposed to but I think it happens all the time.  Just don't let the person have your chip - mail it back to the ATC.  Other option is to send your bib and chip back for a guaranteed spot in next years race.

Time Group 1A - I promised myself I would go for a sub-seeded number after last year's race and just never got around to running a qualifier. Going sub-42 at this year's Ptree is probably not on the menu..

Bib Number 1304.. subseeded.

At St. Anthony's me and Zimmer made a bet on who runs this fastest. Really, I just want the Mug again.. Although title of best club runner for the entire year, which is what was put on the table as the award, would be mighty nice... mighty nice indeed.  Cool   Gotta love beer.

BTW, at last years peachtree, we were seconds apart.. not sure how many seconds, but less than a minute. I won. Wink

Was your check cashed?  If so, I would wait till the end of the week and then call them.

They really do guarantee your entry. I had to do this one year and they sent me a postcard to include with next year's entry.

I thought the mug was a myth too - how do you get a mug?

My understanding is the first 1000 fiishers get a mug.  My question is at what point do they start counting the 1000 (do pro's get a mug)?  I have looked at the results a few times and it seems like you need to run around a 45 or less to get a mug.

Didn't Ron Teed get a mug last year  (or one year)?  Maybe he can answer.

There will be a person handing out cards at the finish for the first 1000 finishers. I was under 45 last year and  was the 100th female but I think I was over 1000. Someone shoved a card in my hand right after finishing for the mug. You take it to Phidippedes and get the mug. I left my card in my sister's car though and she threw it out. Oh well, that is what too many beers at the Tavern post race gets you.

Skipping PT this year. I don't like that they changed the course. Boycotting. Clearly I won't be missed but I hope they change it back next year. I am holding out to get subseeded. I need to shave almost 2 minutes off my 10k (you need sub 42) to do it so it may never happen.

Yup.. first time getting the coveted Mug. I never expected I would get one until one day I started training regularly and got faster.. heh.

Seriously, it is the first 1000 finishers according to Gun time. They only use gun time for this cause thats how they roll at ATC.. I hate it. Time cutoff depends on the quality of the particular field, but looking at last years results, the cutoff was 44:36 Gun time.  Pretty much means that Time group 1A and B have very little shot at getting a Mug. Also, if you start in corral 10, and finish your race in 36 minutes.. no mug for you. It really puts more importance on running a 10k qualifier at 41:59, or faster.

The Mug is really nice though. I have to give them credit for that.

For the record, and I just looked too.. I finished last years race in 43:14 gun time, 42:58 Chip time, and was #772 of the 1000. Another interesting thing to note is that the final 230 people of the top 1000 crossed the line in the next one minute and 20 seconds.. So, the margins are tight.
