About the taper question that I WAS trying to answer.  A sprint probably only needs about 2 to 3 days IMO.  I'm just following a plan for my OLY and they have me starting a taper yesterday basically.  Mon and Tues were a little lighter, but that's about it...

That's about what I figured. I want as much raw conditioning and stroke work as I can get. The run and the bike I have down at those distances but I'm always always always trying to jam in extra conditioning before any type of competition starts.

some people say you do not really need to taper for sprint.

If I had not done the incidental half marathon last sunday I would not have tapered this week, of course the surgical/medical thing played in too.

Just made the decision not to race actually....starting antibiotics Frown

Just to add - my taper plan even has me swimming non-stop for 1200 yards the day before the race.  The swim is most forgiving IMO - hard to overtrain.  Just don't hit the bike or run too hard.

I'm still in "hope not to choke to death during my 500 yard swim" phase.

Lara, if it was an inadvertent mistake, you don't need to sit in the timeout corner. I know I've killed a couple of threads, so I just try to be more careful. Smile

If it was really her, the mods were reading in real time, because I had just refreshed and then BAM 15 seconds later it was gone.

A regular podium finisher I know that does mostly sprints will run or ride the day before, just not cohones to the wall.

I don't plan on racing cohones to the wall anyway. It's my first tri. I don't have enough experience to pace like that yet. I'm going to play safe and go like 85%. If I have a bunch left I'll burn it all on the last mile of the run.
