Subject: Time Trial during IM Taper
Hi,

I will be doing IM Zurich in 4 weeks now. In 2 weeks are the national championships cycling (living on a small island means this competion is open to all!).
I for sure won't sign up for the 75 mile road race, but would like to do the 13 miles time trial (last year I managed a 3dr place podium in the 40+ category and feel that with my current IM training fitness I have a good chance of doing better this year).
Don't want to do anything stupid 2 weeks before my IM I have been training for since the beginning of the year, but was thinking that a 35 minutes full out effort wouldn't do too much damage and I should recover in a couple of days.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

2 weeks out of IM you should be fine. You know your body better than anyone so you should know how long it will take you to recover from it but you should have plenty of time. good luck

In genera, I don't see a problem with it.  As I'm sure you know, a taper is primarily a reduction in volume...not a reduction in intensity.
