Event warmup:

light jogging, walked around
Swim
  • 19m 9s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

did the entire swim freestyle. My first time ever that I didn't have to breast stroke. I was pretty excited, sighting was great. I didn't get caught by the wave behind and I even caught several of the guys from the wave in front of me. HUGE Confidence booster.
What would you do differently?:

Need to continue to work on swimming.
Transition 1
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

Dropped the goggles and the cap on the way into T1. had to go back and get them. Suit came off ok. dropped my gel on the way out on the bike, had to go back and get it. So T1 was a little slow. Also had to put the race belt on. friggin sucked
What would you do differently?:

Quit dropping crap. Need to practice starting with the shoes on the bike. I still haven't gotten that figured out.
Bike
  • 37m 21s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 20.08 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was good, wasn't really prepared for the hills. I haven't been trainig like i should lately so the bike really isn't progressing past my last race.
What would you do differently?:

work on handling.
Transition 2
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

The idiot next to me had his wetsuit on my rack so pulled it off there and threw it on the ground. Slid the shoes on, grabbed the other gel and off i went.
Run
  • 27m 10s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Run didn't go to bad it was a 2 loop and it was really warm. I made it thru 3/4 of a mile and that friggin side stitch came back. walked for about 30 seconds and then decided to run thru it. The second lap it was still warm. each mile was progressivly faster so I probably could have gone out a little faster. Once again lack of training this past month is really showing thru. My Oly plan starts in a week or so, so I'll be back to a structured plan.
What would you do differently?:

need to run more, maybe a few more bricks
Post race
Warm down:

walked around ate some tortilla chips

Event comments:

Race was good, they were organized running events. took a little bit for them to do trophies. This was a smaller race, 163 people overall. This was my first event with this race organization, I was really impressed. They had their stuff together. I will definetly race with them again.

Nice work!  I've just begun riding there and the hills kick my butt (which means I need a LOT of work!)

I was at Island Lake on Saturday when they were setting up and when they had the beginners meeting.  I have the Island Lake Series #3 on my race list later this summer (August 24th, I believe).  It sounds like it went well....I'm really looking forward to it now.

Kick A$$!!  Awesome race, shortyy!!  I'm glad to see someone did this one as I was out there on Saturday too, wondering how it would be compared with Motor City.  For not doing enough training (your words) you sure seem to be FAST!!
