Pre-race routine:

lept at Terry's and went to the race at around 5:30
Event warmup:

Just setup transition - no real warmup - saw my friends there - saw an old friend from high school in transition and we bs'd for awhile - it was relaxed
Swim
  • 24m 16s
  • 900 meters
  • 02m 42s / 100 meters
Comments:

The waves were huge - 4 waves only in a 500+ person tri. It didn't bother me, however. I had a very comfortable swim - no goggle problems or breathing problems. I settled into a stroke and held it the entire time
Transition 1
  • 04m 56s
Comments:

peed in T1 - i had to pee before the start, but they ordered everyone out of the water so i had to wait until T1. This race has a lot of first timers and it isn't usat - so it is really informal . So much so that in T1, a dud 2 corrals away from me got out of his swimsuit and into his bday suit then into his bike suit - i was cracking up.
Bike
  • 54m 29s
  • 17 miles
  • 18.72 mile/hr
Comments:

As I got out of the swim i heard my froend eileen (who started 6 min behind me - she was a collegiate swimmer) call my name. After my T1 pee, I caught her on the bike and she wasn't feeling too hot so i rode with her for a few miles and we chated, so u wasn't pressing at all. After she was feeling better i kind of let loose and pressed, but the roads were AWFUL!!! Many of the participants were riding in the lef tisd eof the road and two ror three deep. It was definitely not a USAT tri. There was drafting everywhere. I just did what i could and didn't stress about it. I could ahve done better on the bike, but i wasn't breaking any records today anayhow.
Transition 2
  • 04m 20s
Comments:

Just tired after the colonial climb
Run
  • 1h 09m 54s
  • 5 miles
  • 13m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Just a poor performance from the start. I had to walk within the first.75 mile. I had nothing in the tank. Walking up reservoir was a bear.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank fluids and chatted with my buddies. It was a fun after event. WE had an awesome tri party at my house catered luau type scene. It was sucha a great time.

Event comments:

If not for the roads being in such bad shape and the lack of officiating, it would be a 5. I still love this race
