Wasa Lake, British Columbia
Canada
RM Events
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 38m 28s
Overall Rank = 169/359
Age Group = 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 9/33
Pre-race routine:

Quietly got up, didn't want to wake up the boys. PB & J sandwich, bottle of accelerade.
Event warmup:

15 min of dynamic warm ups. Quietly sitting by the lake taking in the scenery and doing some mental warm up.
Swim
  • 29m 42s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good swim. I wanted to be more aggressive and not back off when I was in a pack. I accomplished this well!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I really wanted this to be smooth and fast and I did pretty well. Was probably out in about 2 min, maybe 2:30. I still have a little work to do here.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 7s
  • 40 kms
  • 31.12 km/hr
Comments:

Really pushed on this ride. Lots of people to pass, so easy to stay motivated. HR around 150 - 155 which is where it's suppose to be.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I could shave some time off here... I'll work on it.
Run
  • 51m 34s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 10s  min/km
Comments:

I wanted to go hard on this run and I did eventually. First 3 or 4 km were rough, my legs felt like lead. I was running pretty smoothly, but not fast, HR was around 150. Started picking it up around km 4 and felt better. HR topped out around 157, so I'm still not running at threshold. I need to mentally get around this.
But overall a good run. Skipped several of the aide stations b/c I found my groove and didn't want to stop.
Post race
Event comments:

I love this race. Really beautiful setting, nice clean lake, very organized and great volunteers. AND a really fast field. Lots of big names here this year, Jasper Blake, Kyle Marcotte, Sara Gross. Fun!

Awesome race Trudi!

You were already pretty fast. Now it looks like you're starting to get serious about it!
