Does anyone know the main OWS training areas near Salt Lake? And what is the water temp about now? I am coming from Washington and hoping the H2O is a little warmer!

Hey, welcome to Utah! I'm new to this as well, but it seems like East Canyon Reservoir - about a half-hour drive from Salt Lake City -- is a popular spot. In fact, a local tri club, Desert Sharks, is having an OWS clinic there next Wednesday. I'm going up for my first OWS plunge -- yikes!d

desertsharks.com has info if you're interested.

Utah Lake has a triathlon at it today, so it must be OK for OWS. Jordanelle and Echo reservoirs up by Park City and Deer Creek by Heber City all host triathlons, too, and they're kind of in the vicinity.

I'm guessing -- no real data, though -- that most of those waters are in the low-to-mid 60s right now and will get up to the high-60s mid-summer???

the website is desert-sharks.com, and it is a great group. They have a message board you can post a question to. There is a web site that tells you where to get recreational info like water temps, but I'm not sure where it is. Maybe one of the sharks knows, or you can try sltrib.com (sorry, Jody), ksl.com, or google any of the local news stations (kutv, kjazz, fox news, etc) I'm sure someone is sure to have the links for recreation info like water temps.

good luck, and welcome to Utah!!!

Be sure to check out deseretnews.com, too. It's far superior to that sltripe.com (haha). I hear they have quite the triathlete who writes for them, but that could be a rumor.

Hmmmm. Now who could that be?

I fixed the part about the trib for you. *ducking for cover*

Hmmmm.... I'm starting to wonder if a certain cybertrifriend of mine happens to work for the Trib???? Haha!

They do have a great paper. You just won't hear me admit that. Uh, oops!

And I will hand it to the Tribune -- it does have the word "Tri" in it!
