Total Time = 1h 15m 53s
Overall Rank = 45/361
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 3/19
Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 0430, drove over to race. Set up transition areas while eating a CLIF bar and GNC pre-race drink.
Event warmup:

Stretching.
Swim
  • 12m 28s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 29s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

A different triathlon perhaps? The swim course is just way too shallow, it was mostly a water walk.
Transition 1
  • 02m 26s
Comments:

Not my fastest transition area; but they had 2 at the race, so I had to make sure all my swim stuff was in a bag that they would take to the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 34m 5s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 21.88 mile/hr
Comments:

Not as fast as I wanted to be, but no one passed me at all, I kept passing everyone else. Someone with a $5000 bike tried to pass me, but I was a douchebag and sped up so he couldnt pass me in the 15 second window. Sucks to be him. I never saw that guy again.
What would you do differently?:

Know the course, ride it the day prior.
Transition 2
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

I put my running shoes under the wrong bib number at set up, so I couldnt find them under my own number obviously. Wasted lots of time like that, otherwise it was fine when I found them.
What would you do differently?:

Double-check bib number placement at set up.
Run
  • 24m 52s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 07m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt relatively strong, passed a lot of people, a few in my age group. I think I could have been significantly faster, but I was pretty disheartened from misplacing my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim course sucking, misplacing shoes, not fast on the run.

I did Motor City Sprint last year and thought the swim was terrible too.  Nice bike (especially on Belle Isle where the winds can be terrible) and congratulations on a blistering run.
