Pre-race routine:

Woke up. Had coffee. Drove up. Parked. Had powerbar and chatted with Mike, Sam and Alex. Had to drop to the sprint due to the injury and lack of training.
Event warmup:

none.
Swim
  • 15m 53s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

First swim in two months. Due to injury could not do much swimming up to this and it showed. Was able to finish just fine but had trouble with sighting and general fatigue when out there. Man I miss the swim fitness I had...
What would you do differently?:

not be injured and therfore train more...
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Totally took it easy. My goal was only to have fun and not hurt myself. I walked through transition and took my time getting ready. It showed in my times but I wasnt in the running for anything and I knew it.
What would you do differently?:

the whole injury thing...
Bike
  • 1h 05m 53s
  • 10 miles
  • 9.11 mile/hr
Comments:

I totally took it easy here as I havent been able to ride much and did not want to fall. Mostly with my lack of ability to get in much training I just wanted gas in the tank for the run. I chatted with folks and really went too slow on this section per my ability.
What would you do differently?:

broken record... Train more and not be injured...
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Funny, Without really trying I ended up 5th in my AG for T2. I reckon it went well then...
Run
  • 19m 56s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I again took it a bit easy here. I could and should have run faster but was only looking to have fun and not hurt myself. THe run went well and I ended up passing a few folks who passed me on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

same story here...
Post race
Warm down:

water, potato chips, some more water, walked around a bit. CHatted with the co-workers

What limited your ability to perform faster:

FUndamentally the lack of training due to injury. My degenration in my spine is better but for those two months or so before the event I was only able to put in about 9 hours of training. Thats since the beginning of May. Next year I hope to not still be dealing with this nerve/spine issue...
