Swim
Comments: I suck. Got a little chop when we got away from shore, and that didn't help. What would you do differently?: swim more Transition 1
Comments: 4:09 T1 is nearly in the top third. Out of the water, up the beach, wetsuit off, rinse feet, into shoes left at the bottom of the hill, up the ridiculous beach path (carrying wetsuit), then another 50 yards or so to get to the T area. Bike
Comments: Decided to ride with feet atop my shoes until through the construction zone, then settled into a pretty good rhythm. First race with a wheel cover, I think it probably helped a little. Pretty happy about the overall time based on the difficulty of the course. Transition 2
Comments: normal T2 after crazy T1 Run
Comments: Can't complain at all. Felt pretty strong the whole way. Happy with the overall pace. Post race
Event comments: First tri of the year. Definitely some rust to shake off, but other than the swim I feel pretty good about it. Very low key, fun event. Looked like about 1/3 of the field was participating in their first tri ever, which is great. This is geographically the closest race to me, I believe, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. ate breakfast bar on the way to the race, drank some water and gatorade
Biked a bit. Needed to check out the road construction that we were going to ride through. Then walked down to the water and back. No need to run at all after hiking back up that hill (the transition area is on top of the high bank waterfront above the St. Croix river, so T1 is a real treat.
