Pre-race routine:

Woke up at an ungodly hour, had 2 pieces of toast with PB&J, headed to the race.

Apparently I need to watch my sodium intake the day before. I had to pee three times during the race.
Event warmup:

short swim to loosen up
Swim
  • 35m 7s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 20s / 100 meters
Comments:

I actually felt pretty good about the swim, and was disappointed to see where I was in the standings. There was about a 1/4 mile run uphill to T1 from the swim exit. I also had to stop & pee on the way up, so my actual swim time was at least 3 minutes faster than reflected here
Transition 1
  • 01m 46s
Bike
  • 1h 38m 38s
  • 30 miles
  • 18.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Much like the swim, I was surprised to see how low I was in the standings. I know I wasn't hauling ass, but I figured I'd at least be MOP
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Run
  • 1h 00m 52s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

I spent another minute in the bathroom at the beginning, so my GPS actually showed a pace of 9:37, which for me is a great Oly run. I finished really strong, and can't help but wonder how much harder I could have pushed myself at the beginning and throughout.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching and a great breakfast burrito buffet at the post-race party

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am just slow, but getting faster every day. It still amazes me how good the people up here are.

Course: This was a great, but tough course. Abot 10 miles into it, you climb steadily for about four miles, followed by a screaming descent, followed by a short, but very nasty out of the saddle climb up to Horsetooth Reservoir. Heading back into town, there is a nicce series of rollers. There was a lot of traffic arond the reservoir
