Event warmup:

woke up stupidly early, ate breakfast, set up all my junk and went for a 2 minute swim!
Swim
  • 32m 34s
  • 1700 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

well...a little bit better swim for me but i still suck lol. im giving up a good 10 minutes to the people leading my AG which makes it tough to be competitive. gotta keep swimming lots more if i want to get faster. the good thing is that i managed to swim in a much straighter line than kansas :) i lost my watch strap in the first 150 meters but luckily i saw it falling towards the bottom and was able to quickly grab it before it sank all the way and threw it back on. tried to draft on the way out as much as i could but im not very good at it and ended up swimming most of it on my own. rounded the buoy very well (i hit my head on it lol) and the swim back felt like it took forever (because it basically did). im improving but yikes, 10 minutes behind after the swim!!! i wonder what i need to work on...
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

holy long run from the lake up and around the back of transition! i was more tired from the run that the whole swim :) good T1 for me, 3rd fastest in my AG.
Bike
  • 1h 20m 17s
  • 27.96 miles
  • 20.90 mile/hr
Comments:

didnt push as hard on the bike as i could have because i wanted to be able to actually RUN for the 10k at the end. it was tough to hold back and not just pound it because thats what my body wants to do when im biking :) but i told myself to chill and was patient and still had a pretty good ride. the course was pretty congested for the first 5 or so miles til the sprint split off but what can you do? i almost got killed my some girl who was on the inside on a sharp right hand turn and then swung way to the outside where i was and i locked up both wheels, fishtailed, but somehow hung on. i thought i was going down for sure lol. whew! other than that it was an uneventful ride. only got passed by 3 people and 1 of them is a guy from my team who took 3rd overall last weekend so i wasnt surprised when he flew by. 3rd fastest in my AG helped me make up a bunch of time that i had lost during the swim.
What would you do differently?:

maybe push a little harder but i was trying to save it for the run
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

successfully took off my shoes while riding and pedaled in with my feet on top of them and made a sweet running dismount without biting it :) i was proud of myself for this accomplishment, probly the highlight of my race haha. 3rd fastest in my AG
Run
  • 47m 28s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

im very happy with this run. for the lack of run training ive done because of my leg i was really just hoping for 8's so i was quite surprised when i kept ticking off sub 8's and not feeling too bad. the course was nice and rolly with the big hill section at mile fiveish. the hills hurt but i made up a bunch of time on other people who were walking or doggin it up the hill. tried to just turn my brain off and keep the legs moving which seems to be the best thing for me to do while running. now i just want my leg to feel better so that i can train more so i can hold this pace for a HIM :)
Post race
Warm down:

drank lots of gatorade and ate anything in sight for about 30 minutes and then i had to speed home to shower and take off to my friends wedding. looooong day!

Great Race ya donk.  Nice to see that 20.9 mph is taking it easy on the bike.  Yea, we won't be doing any group rides anytime soon ya stud.  Timex IM watches have a little tab on the watchband holder to keep that strap down while swimming, FYI

1:55/100 is slow?  I am in trouble then.  Great job on the race.  Way to keep it together on the bike.
