Comments:

Real good run for me - maybe a little fast out of the gate, but overall happy with my times. I quickly passed my brother after the first mile or so - held a comfortable lead until around mile four when he passed me. I held pretty close behind him, and tried my best to catch him the last mile or so - but could not do it. His time was 52'06" (51 seconds faster than me). Just to humble us, we were both passed by an older gentleman (must have been at least 75 or 80) and he easily beat us both!!!!

What would you do differently?:

I need to train for fast longer distance runs, and do more tempo runs and hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, eating yummy cookies and mandarins.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did not taper for this race, as I am trying to keep on track with my preparation for a 1/2 marathon on March 5th. That may have been a minor limitation.

Event comments:

Nicely run race, with real cash awards for the top finishers. Slight confusion initially about where the starting line was, but other than that, everything went real well.

Great race.  Looks like the runner won.....this time though.  Sounds like you had fun regardless.  How about the old guy....it gives me hope at least.

Very nice pace!! I would love to be able to run an 8mm pace!! I must say I'm jealous! Running with your brother has to be nice. No one in my family (trying to interest my children) runs or is physically active.
Nothing like a good humbling! I love it that the gentleman passed you. How awesome is that?!

Again, congrats on a great job! You will tear-up the 1/2 Marathon in March!!

Happy Training,
Kristi

Thanks for the comments, I guess it is back to the treadmill tomorrow.....

Having someone a little faster than you as a running partner is a good thing, I guess, as it really helps keep me motivated.
