I'm doing my first olympic distance tri next weekend and wanted to get some feedback on what nutrition I should have during the race.  What's your race day nutrition plan for this distance?

 Thanks!

Some sports drink on the bike & run.  Maybe a gel or 2 on the bike.

What have you been training with? That's usually a good starting point.

Personally, I eat a good (and normal) breakfast. For me it's a bagel or Clif bar. Gatorade and water on the bike. One GU halfway through the bike is enough for me. Gatorade at aid stations on the run.

You are going to get a lot of replys like JohnnyK's and Lisa's. Mine is on the same line as well.

Normal Breakfast - cereal, yogurt, peice of fruit, coffee. I eat this as soon as I can when I get up so it will be digested an in my system before the race start. This can be too much food for some people... Try a early morning workout around the time of the race start with eating what you thnk will work.

On the bike: Normally 1-2 gels, a bottle of gatorade and maybe a bottle of water.

On the run: Water/Gatorade as needed. Usually, in training I don't take anything in on a run around 3-6miles and the intake from the bike is enough to get me through to the finish.

Make sure you try taking gels on the bike to know which ones work for you. See what brand you like GU, Shot Blocks, PowerBar, Accel... both for flavor and how they work for you. What about water intake... Do you know what your limit is before you start feeling sloshy or bogged down with too much fluid?

Most of all... Nothing new on race day!

Pretty much the same as above for me too.  I would ad that I usually start getting up earlier in the week or so before a race to eat around the time I will on race day.  It seems to help with the plumbing.

On the bike, I usually have 2 bottles of water + Nuun, a gel and some Clif shot blocks or jelly beans.  Nothing to eat on the run and that usually gets me through.
