Got up and meet a few friends at LTF to drive down. Ate a bowl of oatmeal before leaving the house and took a water with me to sip on.

Comments:

This was an LT test for me. No taper. 20 mile easy ride the night before. Seeing as how I was lightheaded and dryheaving by mile 3, I'd say it was a good test.

Plan was to hammer the entire way (no pacing). I accomplished this.

First, the good:
- A PR. I'm not really training my LT systems since I'm training for Ironman. Lots of zone 2 stuff with some occasional zone 3/4. Given this, a PR is a nice to have.
- LT for last 3 miles was same as last 10k (but faster pace) so no change in HR zones.
- 2 of the miles where under 7 minutes. I'm very happy with this.

Now, the bad:
- Just disappointed with my running overall. Next year is going to be a run focused year. I've already laid out my schedule: 1 marathon, 2 1/2 marys, 4 10ks, 4 Olys and 2 sprints. I should get plenty good at LT and Tempo runs.

Under what circumstances would I not be disappointed with my running? I'll have to give this more thought. A sub 4 hour mary for starters. Maybe a sub 1:40 half. Maybe a sub 43 10K.

Event comments:

New finish line worked better IMHO. Band was a little loud but the organization from the finish line to the family meeting area was top notch.

Very nice PR Jonathan! It sounds like you left it all out there on the course. Way to follow your plan! : )

My PR is 44.45.09 at the Chattahoochee Road Runners 10k this year. That course was significantly easier (downhill), it was cooler and I was not afraid to "feel the burn" during the whole race. I just got hot and didn't HTFU yesterday.

I think you and I need to set a goal of having a qualifying time under 42 mins. Come on, you know you want to...

After Kona, I'm all over that goal brother.

I dunno, your running looks like it's coming along just fine to me. Just be patient. Running requires more base than any of the other 3. It will happen. Like the sub 42 attitude as well. Nice race.

Congrats on the PR.  I find it interesting that you liked the new ending.  I found that it was a funnel to Marta without any post race activities on sight (not that I really care for the post activities, but it is part of the PRR experience).  The other frustrating thing is that they report your time from when your group gun goes off, not from when you cross the start line.  Accordingly, no top 1000 for me, oh well.  Finally, the course was slightly long 6.33 on my Garmin vs 6.2.  Again, who really cares, but still something a techy geek notices.
