Total Time = 21m 50s
Overall Rank = 122/877
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/48
Pre-race routine:

Drove an hour to the race drinking a Rockstar Juiced (what? It's 50% juice, totally healthy) and eating Peanut Butter Crunch. I also enjoyed some pre-race urban contemporary music.
Event warmup:

Jogged around on and off for 45 minutes did a few pick ups. Had a decent glow about me (read-was sweating) Felt ready.

Comments:

This hurt the whole time. Was not a fan. I realize that a race of this distance is suppose to hurt but I wasn't expecting to feel this bad for this poor a finishing time. Oh well. I was suppose to run 100 mile race last week so I guess I can't complain too much about the time. I'm not exactly trained for speed.

Overall Place 122 / 877
Gender Place 18 / 426
Division Place 1 / 48
What would you do differently?:

Start slower. Maybe listen to the pre-race music a little lower. My ferret on crack heart was a little too pumped up.

Get a foot pod for my Suunto so I have somewhat of an idea of pacing.

Had I started at 6:45 I probably could've held it, may have probably been able to pick it up toward the end...maybe.
Post race
Warm down:

Jogged back to the car, 10 minutes or so and sat around waiting for the awards. Chatted with Curegirl, her man and the pups.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ultra marathon training and my inability to pace myself correctly. Or maybe just me. Is it just me? Can I be my own limiting factor?

Event comments:

This is an awesome race with great awards. Will do it again for sure, but I will try and remember that tricky finish!!

I've not logged a race in a while but maybe I need to in order to learn from mistakes. Yeah, like I'll ever learn....;)

I should be happy with this time. I should be happy with this race under my belt. There are many people that are not able to do races at all. Sometimes I lose sight of that fact.

Performance:
This race is never marked which makes it difficult for pacing but there was a lady with a stop watch yelling at the first mile marker, or close to it, I hope. I was at 6:13. Way too fast for the shape I'm currently in. I knew it was pretty much over at that point. I tried to keep that pace as best I could but with my HR aver 202 I knew it was just a matter of time before I blew up, and I did. Big time.
Course: Rolling hills with a tricky finish. Looks like you're going to finish then they tease you with another 300 meters or so...always gets me. Mean, just plain mean.:)

1st place in your division and a stein to boot!  Waytago, sis!!

Yeah, I had the same feeling at my race earlier today.  Too much distance stuff and not enough "speedier" work contributed to my fading.  BUT you podiumed!!  SA WEET!

I certainly don't think you are your own limiting factor at all!

Like you said, you haven't been training for speed of late, and yet, you still went very freakin' fast!!!!!

If it's any consolation, I can't pace myself for crap either.  Granted, I usually don't have the problem of my 'oops, went too fast' being a 6:13 mile, but I do understand!

Excellent work and congrats on the AG prize!

I don't care what you say - it was a good race.  Why ya gotta beat yourself up?

The Stein is most excellent.  That will look cool displayed somewhere, then you can tell people that you won it running a "bad race".  Be prepared though, they might lash out - I'm just sayin'.
