Right now all of my swims are OWS with a training buddy. Do you know of any clubs, public pools, schools, etc. that have a pool only membership. I won't swim alone and need to get in the water more, so I am looking for a pool in the Metro West area (Framingham/Natick/ Ashland/Holliston/Hopkinton). I've spoken to a few places but the rates are for the entire facility, which is way too much for just pool access.

Whitin Community Center in Northbridge charges $5 for a day. You can also drop in on a Masters class for $5. I can give you the coaches contact info if you are interested just pm me. They dont do a pool only membership.

The other place you can try is the Westborough Tennis and swim club. They have a nice pool. I dont know if they have swim only membership but you can check it out.

I have looked into Westborough and the guest policy is pretty scrict. The Whitin place looks really nice but is probably a little too far out of the way.
Thanks for the info.
Anyone else?

Do you swim there? The last time I called it sounded like they only had open swim during school, but I may have been mistaken. I will re-check that.
Thanks so much. As you can tell I really want to get in the water much more.

Why not check out the YMCAs in your area?  They have facilities in Framingham, Hopkinton and Westborough.

Framingham and Westborough makes you buy a full membership. Hopkinton, which is more like an outside camp YMCA, has 2 pools so I thought they may do a pool only membership, but their rates are $500 for the summer, which means July and August for $500. That's just not worth it for the use of the pool maybe 8-10 over the course of two months.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know if it's too late or too far for you, but I swim at the Franklin YMCA - it's about $40/month, $80 to join. Sometimes Franklin is too busy during the day and I go to North Attleboro YMCA instead (using my Franklin membership). See http://www.hockymca.org

Thanks for the info. I did check them out. Very nice people and good rates, but I finally found a place closer to home.
Thanks

I totally understand the fear of swimming alone. My friend MAV has a noodle!! Take the noodle and some nylon rope, cut little holes in one end to slip the rope thru-and tie a big knot, get enough slack so you're not kicking it and loop it over your shoulder like wearing a courier bag.

i got one and it boosts my confidence because if i need a break i can just sit on it!

now get out and swim!! since you're in the area jump in the Hopkinton St Park reservoir or little pond and if you see girls swimming with noodles behind them say hi!  Let me know if you want to meet up, too because I'm training for Title 9 9/7/08!!
