I'm betting this may be an "A" race for a lot of us so what are you shooting for.

I'll start at the risk of embarassing myself after the fact.

Want to break 1:15 total.

11:00 swim
over 19 mph avg on bike
under 23:00 run

ok...I'll play...

Good weather on both Saturday and Sunday
To get everyone parked and in transition by 6:45
No one gets injured
For everyone to have a tremendous day!

Wow...sounds so easy when I put it that way

Of course finishing my first Olympic length triathlon and for son to complete his first (sprint in his case).  In my fantasy world I string together my personal bests and come up with 2:20 but a more realistic me should probably hope for a 2:40 - 2:45 and be happy with a 3 and a finish.  I'd like to have a mid range AG group showing but if that does not happen - I will be glad I got through it and still be in awe of what I have accomplished since February 2007 when I was in the obese category and 50 pounds overweight.  - bob

After a long 6 months of training....I am really hoping for a good A-race sprint. If all pulls together, I am hoping for

Sub 65mins
Top-100

Good luck to everyone!

2:30 for the Oly is my stretch goal. I'll be a bit miffed if I don't come in sub 2:40

This is my first tri so my goal is to not drown (I'm getting _really_ nervous about the swim), not to mess up transitions, and finish MOP.

By the way did anyone else notice that the website states the bike is 13.5 miles but when you pull up the bike course PDF is says 11.5 miles?  Curious about which one is right.

LOL!!  It's one thing to be nervous about your own swim, but when you make the *RD* nervous about your swim too...

You'll be FINE!  The lake is absolutely lovely! (in fact, I'd rather be there NOW instead of here at my desk, that's for certain...)

I'm supah-slow, so my stretch goal is 3:00 for the oly.  Last year I was 3:26 - this year I'm a better runner (all relative, of course!) and I am HOPING to have my short-john wetsuit by then (darn backorder!!) so I'm hoping to shave off 4+ min on my swim and 10+ on my run.  That also means I have to shave 12 off my bike... woah, mama!  We shall see...

Most important, though, I wanna have FUN!!

Heh.. ok so maybe I was exaggerating about drowning...  I can swim, but I'm fairly new to it.  I do 1250 non-stop yards in the pool.  It's lack of OWS training and all the bumping and kicking that I'm nervous about.

I sort of assumed you could swim but I had to ask

Slightly off topic for Larry: Any chance that there will be a practice swim on the Saturday before the race? I know the township and/or US Olympic team is very particular about allowing people use of "their" lake..but thought I would at least ask.

I would plan on it NOT being wetsuit legal...outside chance it will be below 84 so you might be able to wear it but not be eligible for awards...very, very slim chance it's below 78.

I was at the lake last week and stuck my feet in. I would say it felt like it was in the low 80s. It didnt feel "warm" like 85s would feel, and certainly not cold...but a comfortable cool. A few weeks could obviously move that a bit...

This question made me get more precise than my "have a great race in my backyard". Last year I was 8th in my AG at 1:18. I'd like to go for 1:15.

1:15, less the adjustment for the shorter bike course, correct?

Last year wanted to do it in 1:30 and did just that to the second. This year I just want to do everything faster than I did last year. Pretty simple right? Even just a little bit faster is enough for me and considering my training this year, I should be able to do it.

As this is my first tri, I'll be happy with a sub 2hr time.  If I average all of my training times and add 2 minutes per transition, I could finish as quickly as 94 minutes, but I don't want to set those types of expectations for my first tri.  The one thing going for me is all of my run and bike training has been hills except for bricks, where I've been riding to a track.

If you've been training to 94 minutes on hills you should do well on the course. I'm heading over to do the run/bike course tomorrow am at 7:00 with a few guys who are also doing the race from my work.

Main goal - to not drown. Or well... I'm past that, let's say... to be out of the water before they take out the buoys. I'd like to PR (should be easy), and maybe get under 3 hours, but this is really gonna be hard considering my swimming.

Another goal - to fulfill Larry's goal of having everyone in transition by 6:45. Last year not only I arrived around 7, but I forgot the chip so had to get a replacement.

Actually, I think the goal is to have fun. Which should also be quite easy considering how well L&M put up their races.
