Event warmup:

short bike and short run
Swim
  • 10m 27s
  • 528 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim felt good. Near the end of the swim I didn't see a swimmer on my right that I was approaching from a previous wave. Apparently he was struggling a little and was in full breast stroke mode. Sadly for me, I caught a frog kick to the face. My right goggle ended up in my mouth. He was very apologetic; so all is good.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

transition time is cumilated within the bike, i can never remember to hit the lap button in transition to get this time. I felt slow.
Bike
  • 37m 43s
  • 13 miles
  • 20.68 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt i pushed the bike hard, but came up 30 seconds slower than my previous time on the same bike course of few weeks earlier. I felt like I should have been going faster for the effort I was putting out.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again the time is added to the bike, but the transition went well.
Run
  • 23m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran 7 seconds slower than the previous 5k on the same course of few weeks ago. Again, I felt I should have been going faster for the effort I put out. If I was bummed about the bike, I really bummed over the run. I've put a lot of effort into my running over the last few weeks, and it seems to be paying zero dividends.
Post race
Event comments:

I felt good coming into this race. I was really wanting to post a good time. My effort was good but my time didn't reflect the exertion I was putting out. I know it's not hip to be bummed out over a slower race time. We are supposed to be happy with the day, but to be honest I'm frustrated. I've put in a lot of miles on the bike and the run. I don't feel like I'm getting much return for the training on race day. The whole thing confuses and frustrates me.

Sounds like you just needed to add a little more rest/recovery between your hard training and this race since that's when your body adapts to the stress of training by getting faster. Good job and keep up the hard work!
