Pre-race routine:

Chaos
Event warmup:

Got in and splashed around.
Swim
  • 30m 41s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Results are not accurate: I actually panicked and switched to the Duathlon.
What would you do differently?:

MORE OWS!!! I didn't anticipate how mentally hard this would be. Saw how far we had to swim, panicked. Wetsuit too tight around throat, couldn't breathe. Couldn't get my face into the water because I couldn't catch my breath. Watched my entire wave pass me and decided, NOPE! They let me switch.
Transition 1
  • 05m 6s
Comments:

Took my time because I had to talk to race director to make sure I could continue. Totally embarassed that I was out of the water and moving on with the race, didn't want spectators watching me! Nothing to see here...
Bike
  • 1h 50m 47s
  • 28 miles
  • 15.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Fantastic race course.
What would you do differently?:

Uh, I did this for fun but I guess if I wanted to do this faster, train more! I don't care, it was great.
Transition 2
  • 03m 21s
Comments:

Still getting the hang of this.
Run
  • 1h 12m 37s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Terrible, I hate running when it is this hot. Too much.
What would you do differently?:

Um, not enter a race when it is 100 degrees?
Post race
Warm down:

Went into the shower tent. Sweet!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not prepared for open water, slow biker, way too hot on the run.

Event comments:

Good race, I'm just a total dork.

Course: Totally worth the entire race!! Really beautiful. Tough 3/4 mile climb 400 ft. felt really long but doable. Fun to speed down hill at 27 mph and people were still zooming by me like I was standing still. Passed some slow duathloners and got passed by many of the fast triathloners but it was SO MUCH FUN!
