Subject: New Tri shoes from my road shoes........ I was getting way too close to buying new tri shoes because my road cycling shoes are a PITA to get on when already clipped in for leaving T1. The tongue is loose so it gets bunched up, and the two straps either come out of the hinge or close themselves up. I finally decided I had nothing to lose so I cut the tongue out, of course after checking to make sure that wouldn't cause chafing problems.
Once out I applied velcro to the outside of the velcro straps so they can be velcro-ed to the shoe in the all the way open mode to expedite getting into them.
After tinkering with them for ten minutes I saved $120 and actually made a product that is more user friendly than the Specialized or Sidi $120+ shoes I was looking at buying, takes way less time to get into than before.
I'm kinda happy about that. |
