Means absolutely nothing anymore. Whether running or cycling I find that most of the time people just dont hear you. My biggest problem.....cyclists who wear headphones. Are you nuts??? Riding is dangerous enough on the lake front but adding to the danger factor by wearing headphones is insane. I think they should start posting path rules every mile or 2 so people start getting the idea of hoe to utilize the path. Seriously, too many people just cutting across without looking (would you do that in your car crossing a road?), people walking the wrong way on the path, and my personal favorite.......people moving to there left when you say "on your left". Anyone else have any thoughts on this. It's getting worse and worse out there as the summer goes on.

5am is your solution....I bike on the path maybe three times a year. that is enough for me to throw in the towel.

I love to run on the path and stay in the dirt/gravel.....out of everyones way.

Its sucks..the marathon groups are my worst nightmare. Run in packs taking up the both lanes...urrrrg.

My personal favorite: a mom teaching her child how to ride a bike on the path. Mom running along side while holding kid up then letting go and the poor kid's weaving all over the path until he topples over. Ran several people off the path.

only time I ever on the lake front path is for the spring 50k and the fall 50k. I work hard to avoid the bikers but after 25 miles its harder to pay attention and to care.

Don't get me wrong folks, I'm all about sharing the path. After all, it is for public use. It's just so damn frustrating that people are so simple minded and careless. I wish I could get out there at 5AM but working nights kind of makes that difficult.

Hijack: I use the IPP in the West Chicago area ... for every 10 bikes that pass me on any given day ... maybe one ... MAYBE ... will say "on your left"? The day my husband ran with me, I commented that no one up here seems to have any trail manners. He looked as me as if I were speaking Klingon. Trail manners?
