Subject: RE: Places to run in Brooklyn I’ve never run in Ft Greene park, so I can’t tell you about that park in particular. Prospect Park, though, is probably a better choice. For one thing, it’s bigger—it’s a really pretty, populated and safe 5k loop with some decent hills and long flat stretches. Outside of that, I think you’re fine as long as you stick to the larger avenues, like Atlantic, 4th Ave, etc.
Brooklyn has tons of neighborhoods, and things can go from being safe to being sketchy in just a couple of blocks if you don’t know where you’re going. My suggestion would be to scout it out in the daytime and see if there are lots of other runners in the park. If it isn’t filled (and I mean filled ) with other runners, I’d pass. There are tons of runners and cyclists in Brooklyn, and if you don’t see any at the park, there’s probably a reason for it.
