Total Time = 1h 35m 11s
Overall Rank = 134/180
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 21/26
Pre-race routine:

No real routine. Woke up, had a banana, clif bar, sport drink, then left for race to setup.
Event warmup:

No real warmup, just some slight stretching of the legs.
Swim
  • 25m 54s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim start was sudden, no warning to get ready. Did not have time to really prep and focus for the start. Did an ok job of starting and finding space. Mentally was not there and could not get into a real groove. Did some backstroke and breast stroke on the way out to try to focus, but never really did. Did better on way in on getting into groove, but never really got it going.
What would you do differently?:

Well, obviously train. Plan was to not swim much in training, and is showed. Worst swim time in this event for me. Also, getting focused at start may have helped.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Felt like good transition. Actually sat to put on socks and shoes, this seemed to work better than in past. Kept gear to a minimum, worked out well.
What would you do differently?:

Actually time the transition period to see how I did.
Bike
  • 42m 4s
  • 11 miles
  • 15.69 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was not bad, about average for me over the times I did this race. For the amount of training, results were good. On the return the wind was in our face and it slowed the time. I probably could have pushed it a little more than I did, though.
What would you do differently?:

Training really, otherwise happy with bike segment.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition, no hassles with bike or helment, did not have to change shoes, so was out fast.
Run
  • 27m 15s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Not too bad, I started off good, then some very slight cramp in the calves so slowed and recovered nicely. Picked it up the last half and finished well.
What would you do differently?:

I think mentally I knew I would have a mediocre time at this point, so I really did not push it on the run, could have done better here.
Post race
Warm down:

Just refueled and drank. Nothing much. Felt good rest of day, no soreness, no stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, especially swim. Looking at other times in this event, bike and run are almost always the same, swim has big delta. Also mental focus at start.

Event comments:

No mile markers on run. No transition times.
