Just an FYI to let everyone know that the Colonial Area Tri club is hosting a pre-ride for the Patriot's Half again this year.

The course will be the new 56 mile course, eliminating the section of 60 that people hated last year.

Come out and pre-ride the new course!

Info for the ride is at:

http://www.colonialareatri.org/patriot.html or there is also a link on the Setup Patriot Half page.

Can you explain the changes in the bike course.. the map posted on setup page shows both 60 and Cranstons Mill Pond Rd used  .. the site you link says.. (it eliminates the section of 60 and Cranston's Mill Pond Road).  So is the setup map accurate? or is the course actually different?

Setup's website also says "Course maps to be updated ASAP"

and ASAP for Setup means "sometime before the first wave goes off."

The course maps that are currently on the setup site are for LAST year's race-- that's still the old course. They haven't updated the maps on their website yet, but the organizers for the Patriot Ride do have the course from the Setup people already.

The new course actually ends up coming back on Rt 5 for about the last 5 miles- so you turn the opposite direction on Courthouse (Don't quote me on the name of the road- I don't have the course map in front of me at the moment) :-p But that's the basic gist of the change.

Susan said that the preride is supposed to be Aug 9.  She has to check with set up on that.  I'm signed up for the oly but may do the half pre ride if I can get it in for the training.

Setup's website also says "Course maps to be updated ASAP"

and ASAP for Setup means "sometime before the first wave of the 2009 race goes off."

That sounds like a good plan.

It looks like they took out the one tricky hill on Cranston Mill; should be a relly fast course this year.

Setup updated the course maps..  I like how with the swim distances they say approximately.. so I guess for them the swim is approximately 1.2 miles .. no need for accuracy

Hi all! I'm actually helping to plan this race. So far, we've gotten a pretty good turnout. Everyone is really excited about the new route, and the "upgrades" we've made to the pre-ride package.

Hope to see you there!
