Yeah ok so it makes me sounds soft but it really hurts!

On long runs (more than 15km) the little toe on my left foot always ends up getting a bit squashed under the next toe and this eventually leads to blisters. My shoes have plenty of width and it must be just the way that toe has grown because I can feel it happen when I put on other shoes too.

I haven't yet tried plasters or taping to stop the blisters, but even with that It will get sore from the pressure of other toes. Is there anything like a toe spacer I can put in there to push it out a bit?

Thanks for helping with my deformaties!

I'd be interested in hearing responses to this...as I've got something similar going on with the toes on my right foot. My 4th toe underlaps my 3rd toe...causing them to rub, get irritated, and eventually go numb to the point of extreme pain. I have tried the store-bought toe spacers (think I got mine at Walgreens), but found them to not stay in place for very long. They are a jelly-like substance that you place between the two offending toes, but within 10 minutes of running, my feet get all sweaty and the spacer ends up moving out of place. I've also tried taping my two toes together...same results...feet get sweaty, and the tape ends up falling off. I have yet to discover a good solution. I'm hoping somebody responds with one. At least you can rest assured that you're not alone in your toe deformities.

The way my feet are, it's the side (not the bottom pad) of my little toe that gets stepped on. It's weird, I have the toe pad like all the other toes and the bottom of my foot, but it's the nails and adjacent outside skin of my little toes that are all thickened and hard from being run on.

I use a product called SportShield (it's a roll-on liquid) between the toes and all 'round the toes, really. Have not had any blisters since, not on marathons in hot weather, not on long-course tri when my feet were soaked throughout, etc.

I would also recommend going to a podiatrist if possible, and specifically one who treats a lot of runners.

Good luck!
