Comments:

Remote run from OBX for Christine. What do you do when it seems that whatever you do will be wholly inadequate? You go run a 5K anyway. :)

Just before 7 I walked down the street to the beach, kicked off my shoes and headed out for a really nice run on the beach. It was neat to think about the fact that there were a good 200 other people scattered across the country doing the same thing at the same time for the same person.

There is something about the ocean makes it easier to think about the good things and forget about the bad things. Though Christine is already terribly missed, she managed to touch so many people in such a positive way - how wonderful is that? You could feel her smiling through her posts and couldn't help but smile along with her. And I smiled a lot on my run tonight.

I thought about her HIM she did this spring and how hard she worked through it and DID IT, and how important it is to get out and do things when you can. It made me glad that I got some nerve and registered for Augusta. I'm sure I'll be thinking of her race whenever I start freaking out about it in the next year.

I felt really good through the whole run - stuck tight to my intervals. When the Garmin beeped to walk, it felt good to walk, but I wasn't desperate to walk, and when it was time to run again, I was able to spring right back to it. Could have been that I had my intervals set just right, or that I had a little running angel watching over me. (And the rest of the BT'ers I'm sure.)

I'd like to think it was our angel smiling on all of us. :)

I think we're all a little better for having known Christine in one way or another.
Post race
Warm down:

Stood in the surf for a while and just thought about things. Stroll back to the house, hot shower and a cold beer. Cheers, Christine.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I forgot how hard it is to run (or walk) on the beach, given that I spend most of the time just trying not to fall down. :)
