Pre-race routine:

Poor pre race nutrition. About a spoon full of oatmeal and half a banana. Had to eat half a cliff bar while putting on wetsuit.

Very nervous during swim not to aggrivate hernia. Felt it creeping on a few times and had to just drag feet...not kicking.

Run fast from the swim...you get to rest at T1!

Wow...I really needed that port o potty! After going to the bathroom I must have ran my mile pace 1 min faster.
What would you do differently?:

Have plenty of time before race for nutrition/set up and bio break.

Warm down:

none, walked about 100yds then light stretching. Afterward got in the hot tub and then drove home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nervousness about hernia. NOt aero enough on bike.

Event comments:

Overall I was not off to a good start. I was surprised I didn't bonk without proper nutrition pre race. Although during the race I had 3 hammer gel servings and two HEED drinks. Looking forward to beating these times real soon. Also prob didn't go all out due to hernia. Felt like I had a lot of energy left afterwards.
