Swim
Comments: Swim was rougher than normal. Had a few more limbs bumping me than during most races I've done. Also saw a fish as I was coming into shore. What would you do differently?: Train more, but I'm content with how it went. I've only swam probably 5 times since April. Transition 1
Comments: Smooth T1 Bike
Comments: I've put in less than 100 miles on the road this year so I was afraid that the bike leg might be rough for me. Luckily the course is generous and I felt much better than I expected. I decided to leave the computer off the bike and just go by feel. I was very surprised to see after the race that I was able to keep it above 21 mph. What would you do differently?: Maybe train a little more :) Transition 2
Comments: I hate being at a disadvantage in transition like I was at this race. I was about 3/4 of the way down and the bike in and run out were at the far end of transition. But that is the only complaint I have about the entire race, but I'll gladly put up with it. Run
Comments: I felt a sense of relief when I finally started running. I've been hitting run training pretty hard for several months building up to Twin Cities Marathon and I started passing people immediately out of transition. I had one short course runner pass me otherwise I didn't get passed the rest of the run (probably partly a product of a slow swim). Politely greeted MNDiver at about mile 3. He was looking strong. With a little less than a half mile to go I saw a guy about 30 feet in front of me that was in my AG. I followed him at that distance all the way to the finish. I had absolutely nothing left to even keep the pace that I had been holding throughout the run much less speed up to catch him. I guess it's a good sign that I left it all on the course. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. Post race
Warm down: The best part of the race was the socializing afterward. It is without a doubt more fun to race when you know people there, but when it's a good crew like the MNBT crew, even better! Thanks, Emily, Bob, Kelly, Kelly, Bryan, Pattie, Jeremby & Ben, hope to see you all again sometime this year. Last updated: 2008-07-21 12:00 AM

Woke up a speck before 3 am to drive to the race. Arrive just after 5:30 and pulled into one of the best kept parking secrets at the race :)
I ran for about 5 minutes to make sure I have my elastic laces in comfortably since I had just put them in that morning. I realized the night before that I hadn't put them into my new shoes (bought 2 months ago) yet because I haven't raced this year.
