think quickly, everyone...fewer than 200 spots left for Longhorn Ironman 70.3.

Make sure you stay Sunday evening, as we've got a kickin' post-race party lined up at Austin Icon Hill's Cafe, on the patio. Beer, bbq, music is the way to end the weekend right

Minus one more.

The "Trifectuals" relay team is officially entered.

Since this is a Longhorn thread... Keith, I was wondering if there was going to be live athlete tracking at the race. My parents will be out of town so they can't come see me race, but would still like to get updates. I don't remember if you said that this was going to be set up or not. Thanks!

Run-Far has a really cool new tracking system they're working on. Waiting to see for sure, though....

I'm with Marcy, Mike.  I'm glad you are getting a nice swim in, but SOMEONE has to make sure that there is a dead and cooked animal waiting for me as I stumble incoherently across the finish line after 8 hours in the Texas sun.

BBQ takes time  I am hoping the beer is cold sooner.

Keith, I think I hijacked your thread.  I guess we know how high up the priority list BBQ is in Texas!

Just signed up.

For those that did it last year, my wife Carey will be back as El Diablo on that last hill of the bike course. This year she'll be joined by a sidekick.

No hitting on her...besides she'll be armed with a pitchfork.

Okay, Brandt. This is proof. When you get across the line and there's no beer left, don't blame those of us that finished ahead of you. Blame the 'testers'!

There BETTER be beer left; I need something to wash down the dead farm animal, and ease my pain.  Gatorade just won't suffice.

Any chance that this race will be wetsuit legal?

Not unless Keith (or an enterprising athlete) dumps a couple hundred pounds of ice in the lake a few minutes before they take the official temp.

It's really unlikely. The lake is used for cooling the power plant that sits on the shore, so that doesn't help all that much. Plus, it's not all that deep and there's not a lot of flow through it. As a result, it gets way into the upper 80's during the summer and holds that temp for quite a long time. There's pretty much 0 chance that it will be wetsuit legal for pro/AG eligible racers.

So glad el Diablo will be back at the top of the hill.  She made the climb bearable.

Wetsuits? Hell no.  That lake was so freakin' hot last year it wasn't even funny.  I was sweating so bad inside my swim cap.  Wish we didn't have to wear even those.  And this year has been even hotter earlier, with multiple 100s (at least up here in Fort Worth).  I know Austin hasn't been much "cooler".  Get out and OWS sans wetsuit as much as you can if you're worried about it.  Coming from a former non-swimmer - learn to balance and your buyouancy issues will be taken care of.

Getting psyched already, Keith.

maybe if it's held in december.. trust me, (famous last words) you will be too warm to want a wetsuit.

I heard that the water is so hot there will be water hand ups during the swim
