Subject: Garmin 305 Forerunner Bike Mount
For users of the Garmin 305 Forerunner, how do you mount the unit to your bike? I see the bike mount kit on Amazon, but that looks more set up for a horizontal facing road bike handlebar than an aerobar setup. I can't imagine being able to see that very well on my tri bike, seems like there must be some solution for aerobars. Any suggestions?

I have One.
It is acutally VERY easy. The bracket uses the watch band 'pins" that normally are on your 305. It also comes with a velcro wristband with the same quick release bracket so it's easy to switch back and forth.
This bracket attaches via zip ties.
hope this makes sense, Get iot. It works well

I actually have mine on my areobar with the use of a Profile Design mount

That was my solution as well, done before the Garmin mount was available.

For my HIM this past weekend I decided to leave it on my wrist so I could get thru T2 faster, I was able to look at it plenty to keep tabs on my HR, however really used it as a guide for future training as I was never comfortable with the results of my at home time trials to graph my HR. From now on I may do a bike mount so I can see it better, who knows.

Mine sits on my stems.  You are correct that the mount is designed for a horizontal bar.  I took the zip ties and put it on the vertical stem and tied it down as tight as I can.  I only has about 1/4 inch of give.  When I am in aero, all I have to do is look straight down to see it.

I have mine on an adapter made by syntace (about $15) that will fit just about any aerobars.  It is a small piece of plastic that mounts on the aerobar by way of a clamp that allows the Garmin mount to be attached in the right orientation.

I just strap mine to the handlebar.  No mount.  Works fine for me.

Profile Design makes a generic mount, about $8. I use that. I have tri bars so no sideways part to put it on and I didn't want to look at it at a 90 degree angle.

I have an extra mount if you want it. You know I don't like it as my unit has bounced out three times and now I leave it on the wrist strap an mount it sideways which make sit very easy to take off bike and onto my wrist for my walk. See you next week
